Power Progression

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Ice Jade Empress Scorpion 140 171 Historical cultivation exceeded 300,000 years. The Empress Scorpion title requires reaching that threshold and completing a bloodline metamorphosis.
God-level Soul Spirit 166 179 Ascended with Huo Yuhao approximately 10,000 continental years earlier. The God Realm's celestial energy reconstructed her body and nurtured her into the god-level.
Borrowed power comparable to a Second-Class God 179 While Huo Yuhao was a First-Class God, she could use his godhood through their Soul Spirit contract.
Combined strength threatening First-Class Gods 179 After Huo Yuhao reached half-step God King, the Ice and Snow Empresses together possessed strength that even a First-Class God had to avoid confronting directly.
Peak quasi-god output under Su Mo's restrictions 169 After being summoned, her usable strength was restricted to this level, although she retained advanced spatial abilities.
Level 100 after contract termination 180 Huo Yuhao dissolved their contract, removing her access to his borrowed power. Su Mo's control over her increased, but remained incomplete.

Background / History

The Ice Empress lived in the Far North for over 300,000 years and led the Ice Jade Scorpion clan. Her niece, Lü Yuan, was her only blood relative and had been raised as the clan's next leader. The Ice Empress also shared a sister-like bond with the Snow Empress that had lasted over 200,000 years 171 172 174.

She became one of Huo Yuhao's Soul Spirits and accompanied him through dangers in which Electrolux's Undead Demi-plane repeatedly provided refuge. During Huo Yuhao's years studying in the Sun Moon Empire, she observed its technological development and the comparatively high living standards of its commoners 168 178.

At Qiankun Asking Emotion Valley, she and Tian Meng received temporary physical bodies. Their Soul Spirit contracts remained active, allowing Tian Meng to channel his immense spiritual power through Huo Yuhao's Spirit Eye. The Ice Empress later revealed that Tian Meng controlled and sexually assaulted her, and that their subsequent relationship had been forced rather than freely chosen 179 194.

After ascending to the God Realm, she regained a body through its celestial energy. She inherited Anger, one of the seven emotions associated with Huo Yuhao's position as God of Emotions, and generally lived independently unless he summoned her. Much of her peaceful life there was spent with the Snow Empress 166 177 181.

Appearance

Her human form resembles a petite young girl, while her true form is a small, translucent emerald scorpion 166 170.

  • Hair: Emerald-green hair, worn in twin tails during her appearance in the Forest of Divine Beasts 166.
  • Eyes: Described as clear as ice crystals; golden light appears in them during moments of distress 166 172.
  • True-form size: Approximately 1.5 metres long, unusually small among great fierce beasts 170.
  • Carapace: Crystal-clear, like extreme-cold jade, with flowing emerald radiance and golden patterns refracted by sunlight 170.
  • Pincers: Large relative to her body; used both physically and to produce clan communication signals 170.
  • Recognizable likeness: Xu Xiaoyan and Mu Xi immediately notice that she matches the Ice Empress depicted in Spirit Pagoda murals 241.

Personality

The Ice Empress is proud, outspoken, and accustomed to deference. She openly calls the Far North her home and asserts her right to behave as its sovereign. Being mistaken for a young “little sister” or finding that others do not recognize her can provoke immediate anger 169 233 241.

Her attachment to her clan outweighs her pride. Upon learning that her pursuit of immortality had helped draw human interest to the Far North, she kneels and apologizes to Huo Yan. Her grief also turns inward: she blames herself for abandoning her kin and repeatedly strikes herself after discovering that her closest companions concealed their extinction 172 173.

She can be both perceptive and ruthless. She recognizes that Su Mo deliberately exposed her to the Far North's ruins to recruit her, yet accepts his manipulation because she sees him as her remaining hope of continuing her clan. She is willing to attack the Snow Empress and exploit her need for affection to secure her loyalty 174 180.

With Su Mo, she becomes protective, playful, and possessive. Although she describes their relationship as transactional, her panic at his apparent death and jealousy over Dong Qianqiu show a stronger emotional attachment than she admits 184 229 232.

Abilities & Skills

Ultimate Ice

  • Releases cold waves capable of freezing the surrounding air and suspending a vast barrage of iron needles in mid-flight 186.
  • Uses her ice to bypass the poisonous miasma surrounding the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well 232.
  • Can shield others from the Far North's cold with soul power, as she does while carrying Su Mo 175.
  • Limit: Her ice attribute does not allow her to melt the Sea God Helmet; she also acknowledges lacking sufficient strength to process the divine artifact in her current condition 224.

Domain of Eternal Freeze

  • Spreads an island-scale freezing domain, turning New Sea God Island into a lifeless ice field within seconds 219 220.
  • Produces absolute-zero temperatures that freeze Chen Xinjie's condensed ocean abyss 221.
  • Strongly counters ocean-based attacks, suppressing Chen Xinjie's techniques even after the Sea God Helmet raises him to god-level strength 221.

Wrath of the Ice Emperor

  • Identified as her strongest attack 174.
  • At point-blank range, destroys the Snow Empress's reincarnated body with a strike directed at her heart 174.
  • In battle against Chen Xinjie, gathers ice elements into countless blades to confront his Orca-Slaying Tyrant Fist 220.
  • Limit: Destroying a reincarnated body does not permanently kill its occupant while the soul remains intact 174.

Spatial Manipulation

  • Opens a passage directly from the Undead Demi-plane to the Far North's core area 169.
  • Calculates and alters spatial structures, excising the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well into an independent spatial bubble 234 235.
  • Stabilizes that bubble and transfers the well into the Undead Demi-plane; entering the excised space thereafter requires spatial power 235.
  • Performs precise teleportation, including returning directly to Su Mo's residence 240.

Physical and Spiritual Strength

  • Her quasi-god physical strength is sufficient to kill a Super Douluo; a punch shatters Su Mo's ice dragon 186.
  • Possesses spiritual perception broad enough to confirm the identity of the Undead Demi-plane 168.
  • Initially resists Impure World Reincarnation's attempt to extract her soul. Huo Yuhao's intervention unintentionally strengthens the pull and breaks her resistance 166 167.

Clan Communication

  • Contacts Ice Jade Scorpions through rhythmic clicking of her pincers and also attempts telepathic messages 170.
  • Her clan's exceptionally strong hearing allows it to detect prey footsteps from thousands of metres away, making sound-based communication practical in blizzards 170.

Contract and Reincarnation Effects

  • Her former Soul Spirit contract allowed her to borrow Huo Yuhao's power and sense changes in his anger through her inherited emotional connection 177 180.
  • Impure World Reincarnation grants repeated bodily reconstruction and inexhaustible soul power and stamina while her soul survives and Su Mo maintains the technique 174.
  • Her initial reincarnated body lacks a living aura and cannot feel the Far North's chill 169.
  • Vulnerabilities: Reincarnated beings can be defeated and sealed or attacked directly at the soul; brute-force bodily destruction alone is insufficient 174.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Suspected molted shell: An emerald, gold-patterned Ice Jade Empress Scorpion shell recovered by Ning Bei. Su Mo considers it likely to be hers but does not initially rule out an older specimen 139 140.
  • Blood preserved in the shell: Two drops sealed in its eye sockets are suspected to belong to the Ice and Snow Empresses and provide the basis for Su Mo's summoning attempt 140.
  • Soul Guidance Communicator: Used by Su Mo to contact her and summon her back to his residence 207 240.
  • Sea God Helmet: Recovered following the conflict with Chen Xinjie. She explains its restrictions and rejects Su Mo's suggestion that she melt it down 224 230.

Relationships

  • Su Mo — Summoner, ally, and intimate partner. She chooses him as a possible means of preserving the Ice Jade Scorpion bloodline, protects him from the Snow Empress, and later accompanies him on attacks against their enemies 173 175 219 232.
  • Snow Empress / Xue'er — Longtime sister-like companion. Concealing the clan's extinction causes a violent rupture, but the Ice Empress still comforts her during her own breakdown. Their reconciliation follows the Snow Empress's agreement to become Su Mo's partner 174 176 180.
  • Huo Yuhao — Former Soul Spirit contractor and traveling companion. She severs ties after learning he concealed the Far North's fate; he subsequently terminates their contract under Tang San's orders 177 179 180.
  • Tian Meng — Former husband, whom she accuses of forcing their relationship through spiritual control. She rejects his appeals to their shared past and threatens revenge 173 178 179 194.
  • Lü Yuan — Cherished niece and intended successor. Her dissection appears in a Tang Sect–Spirit Pagoda publication; her final message asks the Ice Empress to preserve the clan's bloodline rather than pursue revenge 172 173.
  • Huo Yan — Surviving Zhuqing Ice Toad who blames her for the Far North's disaster and delivers Lü Yuan's message. She apologizes to him and hopes to earn the survivors' forgiveness through her actions 173 180.
  • Tang San — Principal enemy after he admits arranging the Far North's sacrifice and secretly guiding the human sweep of the region 177.
  • Titan Snow Demon King / A-Tai — Fellow Far North leader whom she expects to find upon returning. She learns that he and his clan died defending the region alongside her kin 171.
  • Electrolux — Respected figure whose Undead Demi-plane repeatedly sheltered her and Huo Yuhao. Her sorrow upon hearing of his death is described as sincere 168 169.
  • Di Qiu'er — Old acquaintance revealed to be the Emperor Auspicious Beast rather than part of Tang Wutong's divine soul. Their reunion exposes another deception surrounding their shared past 230.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Summoning from the God Realm

Ning Bei's discovery of the scorpion shell gives Su Mo a possible blood source for summoning the Ice and Snow Empresses. He initially wants information about the God Realm. The summoning causes both women severe pain; Huo Yuhao's attempt to help instead breaks their resistance, drawing their souls into Su Mo's Undead Demi-plane while their original bodies remain in suspended animation 139 140 166 167 168.

Homecoming and the Clan's Extinction

The Ice Empress opens a passage home expecting to meet her descendants. Silence, a buried Soul Tool mecha, and unanswered clan signals lead her to the ruins of her settlement 169 170 171.

Su Mo tells her that the Spirit Pagoda and Tang Sect exterminated her kin approximately 5,000 years earlier with Federation support. Learning that the Snow Empress, Huo Yuhao, and Tian Meng knew about it shatters her trust. The identification of Lü Yuan in a dissection manual intensifies her desire for revenge 171 172.

Huo Yan then explains that humans sought the secret of godhood because she had helped Huo Yuhao ascend. After apologizing, she receives Lü Yuan's request to continue the bloodline and turns to Su Mo as a potential mate. She attacks the Snow Empress to remove what she regards as a threat to that hope, only to discover that the reincarnation technique reconstructs the destroyed body 173 174 175.

Breaking with the God Realm

Evidence of the Abyss in the Far North leads to a confrontation with Huo Yuhao and Tang San through a mental connection. Tang San admits deciding to sacrifice the region and guiding the human campaign that removed its dominant Soul Beast clans 175 176 177.

The Ice Empress rejects their justifications, threatens Tang Wulin in response to Tang San's rhetoric of sacrifice, and exposes Tian Meng's coercion. Both empresses sever ties with Huo Yuhao, who dissolves their contracts and reduces their power to level 100 178 179 180.

Revenge at New Sea God Island

After meeting Bai Xiuxiu and Xiao Bai, the Ice Empress joins Su Mo in posing as Tang San's envoys. Su Mo transforms into the Snow Empress, and their apparent identities persuade Chen Xinjie to return to New Sea God Island 208 209 216 218.

Once Chen Xinjie arrives, she freezes the island and confronts him over her clan's extermination. Their battle destroys the island; her freezing domain counters his ocean power despite the Sea God Helmet. Su Mo later confirms that he and the Ice Empress killed Chen Xinjie 219 220 221 230.

Relocating the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well

The Ice Empress accompanies Su Mo to the Tang Sect's protected cultivation site, neutralizes its poisonous approach, and intimidates the fierce-beast-level immortal herbs. She then excises the entire well and transfers it into the Undead Demi-plane, enabling Su Mo to cultivate there 232 233 234 235 237.

A week later, the Tang Sect still appears unaware of the theft. Back at Su Mo's residence, she meets Xu Xiaoyan and Mu Xi, whose recognition of her mural likeness contrasts sharply with their surprise at her youthful appearance 240 241.

Trivia

  • Her clan's habit of killing Ice Silkworms for amusement also limited their population. After the Snow Empress persuaded her to stop, Ice Silkworm numbers exploded and nearly consumed the Far North's remaining hardy plants 213.
  • Unlike the Snow Empress and Evil Emperor, she preferred enjoying the God Realm to studying in its library, leaving gaps in her knowledge of planar affairs 210.
  • She is impressed by modern Battle Armor, particularly its ability to let an ordinary Titled Douluo rival a Limit Douluo 199.
  • She considers learning Su Mo's Body Sect technique but declines after learning how dangerous it is 237.
