A massive project began construction today.

Zhang Xinhua, head of the Institute of High Energy Physics' Lunar branch, was currently at the temporary base on the construction site, cutting the ribbon for the project.

"Today, I am greatly honored to witness the establishment of the Lunar Large Particle Collider project."

As soon as he finished speaking, the dozen or so people present began applauding. The Institute of High Energy Physics had spent several years fighting for this project before it finally passed the reviews and received approval from the Ministry of Science and the Ministry of Aerospace.

A few years ago, because the Federation had to prepare for the possible outbreak of World War III at any moment, it provided relatively little support for research in certain theoretical fields.

For example, the Institute of High Energy Physics had long hoped that the Federation would build a large particle collider, dark matter detectors, gravitational wave detectors, and the like, but none of those projects had received support.

It was not until the Noah Society fell apart and Russia voluntarily surrendered, relieving the Federation's internal pressures on Blue Star, that theoretical research began receiving renewed attention.

There were indeed many benefits to redeveloping theoretical fields now. Society was highly stable, funding was plentiful, and the emergence of many new materials and technologies provided better conditions for theoretical research.

Take the Lunar Large Particle Collider project before them. If it were built on Blue Star, environmental modifications and maintaining the vacuum pipelines alone would have been relatively troublesome matters.

But building the collider on the moon made those issues far less significant. Land development there did not need to consider ecological protection, land acquisition and resettlement, vacuum maintenance, earthquakes, or similar problems.
