Background and Founding

The sect originated on the river now called the Qinghe. Formerly known as the Bai River, it flooded almost every year until Zhang Qi returned to his hometown after achieving success in cultivation, carved and restrained its waters with his sword, and established the sect in a city at the river’s center. The sect’s continued presence suppresses the river; as long as it remains, the Qinghe River will not burst its banks. 40 203

Unlike sects that isolate themselves in remote mountains, the Qinghe Sword Sect keeps its official disciples among the people it has sworn to protect. New initiates train in the mountains, while recognized disciples move into the city in the river. 40

The sect is widely regarded as the strongest sword sect under Heaven. Its reputation was shaped by Zhang Qi, the former “number one person under Heaven,” but its disciples are also feared for routinely killing fiends with a single stroke. 4 97 179 532
