Torifu froze for a moment, his whole body stiffening.
Hiruzen sensed something was wrong and gave Torifu a gentle shake. "What's wrong, Torifu?"
Torifu came back to his senses and quickly waved a hand. "It's nothing. I used up too much Chakra just now, so I'm a little tired."
Hiruzen nodded. He had also used up quite a bit of Chakra, and there was no way they could set out on a mission now.
"Then go home and rest. We'll set out tomorrow."
Torifu was eager to figure out what was going on with the system, so he readily agreed to Hiruzen's suggestion.
The others all nodded in agreement as well.
The sparring match ended with Torifu successfully joining the team for the mission. Everyone went home to rest and prepare for their departure the next day.
As soon as they dispersed, Torifu hurried home. His claim that he'd used up too much Chakra was just an act; in reality, he was completely fine.
Once home, Torifu immediately opened the panel.

Torifu shouted. He'd never had a reliable way to earn Calmness Points. So far, he'd only been able to rely on daily check-ins and Chaos Events.
But check-ins only gave him a hundred points a day, and Chaos Events were triggered at random. Even though he'd awakened the system quite some time ago, he'd only managed to save up 4,900 Calmness Points.
And all of them had come from check-ins!
Now he could earn Calmness Points by completing missions or collecting characters for the compendium! Torifu felt a wave of relief.
At last, he had some confidence that when Madara Uchiha launched his rebellion, the system wouldn't turn on him for being completely useless.
"Life is wonderful!"
All the hard work and exhaustion from the morning had been worth it.
His fight with Hiruzen Sarutobi had been mentally exhausting, and Torifu lacked real combat experience.
He'd managed to catch Hiruzen off guard only because Hashirama had crammed so much training into the past few days and because Torifu had all those bizarre jutsu.
If they fought again, it would be very difficult for Torifu to win.
After all, Hiruzen and the others were seasoned shinobi who had been through countless battles and completed all sorts of missions.
Torifu, by comparison, had only killed one person at most: that unlucky spy.
Torifu was in high spirits, humming "Today Is a Good Day" as he strolled leisurely around the house.
Then he suddenly stopped in his tracks. It seemed he'd overlooked something!
If he'd accepted some random mission to catch a cat or clean up trash, wouldn't that have unlocked the new features too?
He let out a soft sigh, deciding not to pick a fight with the system over it. His mood was too good to ruin today.
But if you let it go once, you'd only get more aggrieved! He just couldn't swallow this!
If the features had been unlocked from the start, would he have needed to take that risk?
Could there be any decent people in a place where samurai and shinobi slept in the same bed?
But there was nothing he could do. He was the one who'd made a fuss about joining, even beating up their captain to get in.
If he said he wanted to back out now, would that work? Of course not!
That said, if Torifu hadn't decided to go with Hiruzen Sarutobi's team to wipe out the bandits, if he hadn't decided to take that first step, he might not have successfully unlocked the new features either. Torifu understood that perfectly well. He just wanted to curse the system out.
After cursing it, he cheerfully started checking out the new features.
When he opened the Mission Log, he found that it only listed one mission: the bandit-clearing mission he'd secured through sheer persistence.
There didn't seem to be anything special about it, and it didn't say what would happen if he failed. Could this really be a free gift? Could he get a reward from the system on top of the money he'd earn in the real world?
Torifu absolutely didn't believe it. Given how awful the system was, it would probably slap him with ten thousand Chaos Points if he failed!
Kumonaka Torikaze silently resolved that once he accepted a mission, he would never fail it. He wouldn't give the system a chance to take advantage of him!
Then he turned his attention to the other feature: the Character Compendium.
At a thought from Torifu, the Character Compendium slowly opened like a book. A series of images, each resembling an ID photo, appeared on the panel.
Torifu took a closer look and realized they were all characters who had appeared in Naruto, but most of the compendium was dimmed.
He found a picture of his master, Senju Hashirama, and tapped it. The system's voice rang out again.
[Ding—Character unlocked: Senju Hashirama. Reward: 1,000 Calmness Points.]
"Wow! Master's worth that much?" Torifu exclaimed.
It would take him ten days of check-ins to save up 1,000 points! It was a shame he could only unlock Hashirama once.
If only he could unlock different versions of each character from different periods. Then he could keep milking them for points, and just thinking about it was thrilling!
After trying a few things, Torifu figured out how the feature worked.
He could unlock the pictures of any shinobi in the compendium as long as he'd had some sort of interaction with them in real life, whether it had been good or bad!
Maruboshi Kosuke, Yuhi Shinku, Kaiya Ikkaku, and others were all in the compendium, though they only gave him a small number of Calmness Points.
By contrast, Hiruzen Sarutobi and the others, as well as famous figures like Senju Tobirama, were all worth 1,000 Calmness Points.
It was worth noting that Izori Uchiha was also in the 1,000-point bracket. Perhaps that was because she had developed Izanami?
