After arriving in Backlund, he encounters Cyrin Gray at the steam train station. Cyrin recognizes the gray fog surrounding Klein, while Klein identifies him as the man whose dangerous prayer had reached Sefirah Castle 57. Klein later brings Cyril into the Tarot Club as Mr. Wheel of Fortune, establishing a relationship marked by cooperation, information exchange, and mutual suspicion 61.

Operating publicly as detective Sherlock Moriarty, Klein hires Cyril as a bodyguard while under threat from Intis agents.
