Bird Poop
Wu Biao lay in the middle of the hall, holding a massive piece of medical equipment between his arms. He kept lifting and lowering it to build up his arm strength.
"Has this thing gotten lighter?" Wu Biao muttered. This was probably the heaviest piece of equipment in the clinic. Usually, after lifting it ten thousand times, he'd be drenched in sweat. But today, for some reason, he'd done nearly twenty thousand reps and had only just started to sweat a little.
In other words, this kind of workout no longer did him any good.
With a bored look, he rolled over and set the equipment aside, then rubbed his chin and muttered, "I clearly sensed a challenge during the day. Why couldn't I find that thing called a Hollow, even after going out twice?"
A day had passed since the incident with Inoue's Brother. As for Inoue's Brother, whom Wu Biao had separated from Orihime Inoue the day before, Kurosaki Ichigo had performed a soul burial after examining him, sending him to Soul Society.
"Wu Biao, get up! Hurry!"
Kurosaki Isshin rushed in from outside, his face full of urgency. "Get everything ready, now! There's been a major traffic accident at the nearby intersection. The injured will all be brought here for emergency treatment in a moment."
"A major accident?" Wu Biao's expression turned serious. He scrambled to his feet, straightened his white coat, and began preparing the emergency supplies. He'd been here for nearly two months, after all, so he had a basic grasp of what to do.
Stretchers, beds, disinfectant... Once everything was ready, the sound of ambulances rang out outside.
Kurosaki Isshin nodded at the sight and gave up on the idea of calling Shyarly and Yuzu Kurosaki over to help. Wu Biao had gotten everything ready incredibly quickly, and with his strength, carrying patients would be easy.
"I'm back!"
"Hey, Ichigo!" Wu Biao waved while he had a moment.
Kurosaki Ichigo looked at the emergency supplies set out in the clinic, his face full of confusion. "What's going on?"
"Sounds like there's been a major accident at the intersection!"
Wu Biao answered and immediately pushed a bed out of the clinic. Seeing this, Kurosaki Ichigo didn't ask anything else and headed toward the room inside.
"Can't you handle it?" Kurosaki Isshin was on the phone in the room. "Hurry and find a way. I can only provide emergency treatment here... Listen, tell your hospital director that Kurosaki is asking... That should free up however many beds we need. Understood?"
Kurosaki Isshin shouted angrily before hanging up on Karakura General Hospital. He wondered how Ishida Ryuken would react to that. The owner of some run-down clinic was hardly someone whose name should carry weight...
But as it turned out, Kurosaki Isshin still held some sway with his old friend Ishida Ryuken. The patients had barely finished receiving emergency treatment when an ambulance from Karakura General Hospital arrived.
Wu Biao and Kurosaki Ichigo helped load the treated patients into the ambulance. After a hectic stretch of work, almost everyone had been taken care of and sent off.
"Let's wait a little longer. If no more patients come, we'll go eat!" Kurosaki Isshin washed his hands and stretched.
Wu Biao brightened at that. He'd been hungry for ages, but just then, the sound of another ambulance rang out outside.
"Ah!" Wu Biao sighed helplessly and rushed out with Kurosaki Ichigo. But when they saw who was getting out of the ambulance, both of them froze.
"Ha, Ichigo! Isn't this your buddy? The one called 'Shove It into the Lake,' right?"
"It's Sado Yasutora!" Sado Yasutora, being helped down by the medical staff, twitched his mouth as he corrected him.
"Same difference!" Wu Biao stepped forward and took the burly Sado from the sweaty medical worker's hands without the slightest effort.
Sado, a man of few words, could only feel helpless. Shove it into the lake... What kind of free time did he think I had?
"Hm?" As soon as he steadied Sado, Wu Biao curiously squeezed his muscles. "I didn't get a good look at you last time. You're in great shape!"
Feeling the large hand stroking his waist and hearing Wu Biao's suggestive words, Sado shuddered.
This guy... Was he into men?
If Wu Biao had known what he was thinking, he probably would've buried Sado Yasutora alive on the spot!
Kurosaki Ichigo stared at Sado Yasutora with a furrowed brow. He could sense traces of a Hollow on him.
But asking questions wasn't the most urgent thing right now. He helped Wu Biao carry Sado into the clinic. When they took off Sado's shirt, the bruised, purple claw marks came into view.
Everyone except Wu Biao frowned. But Kurosaki Isshin soon calmed down. "That's pretty bad. It looks like a burn."
This feeling...
Kurosaki Ichigo frowned. The claw marks felt familiar. The day before, when Orihime Inoue had been in a car accident, the claw marks on her leg had carried the same aura. They'd later confirmed that they had been left by Inoue's Brother after he became a Hollow.
"Come on, say hello to Brother Wu Biao!"
"Hello, Brother Wu Biao. My name is Shibata Yuichi!"
The exchange nearby interrupted Kurosaki Ichigo's thoughts. He turned to look at the parrot that housed a soul, his brow furrowing. He'd already noticed it during the day.
But Rukia had said that the lonely soul inside posed no danger, so he hadn't paid it much attention.
Yet ever since the parrot had appeared, Sado had kept getting hurt. It was hard to call that a coincidence.
"Shibata Parrot, I have a question for you!" At Wu Biao's words, the other three in the clinic frowned and looked his way in unison.
Brother Biao had sensed it too?
Kurosaki Ichigo thought, keeping his eyes fixed on Wu Biao. He wanted to see what Brother Biao was going to ask.
"You've been sticking close to that big guy, haven't you?" Wu Biao casually pointed at Sado Yasutora beside him.
The parrot didn't answer. Like a real parrot, it tilted its head, but an almost imperceptible flicker of fear crossed its beady eyes.
"Do you know a monster with a white mask?" The smile slowly faded from Wu Biao's face. His eyes bore into the parrot with an oppressive intensity. "Some monster sent me a challenge twice during the day, but when I went to meet it, there was nothing there. You must know that monster, right?"
Wu Biao sounded irritated. He was simply angry now. It had challenged him, then run away right after provoking him.
What the hell was this, some kind of game? It had made him run all that way, and he hadn't seen a damn thing.
"Little pigeon... No, parrot. I can sense that thing's aura on you. I'm telling you, confess and you'll be treated leniently; resist and you'll be punished harshly. If you don't tell me the truth today, I'll shove your head up your ass!"
"..." Kurosaki Isshin was helpless. This idiot. Saying that in front of Ichigo was one thing, but why wasn't he even trying to keep it from me, an ordinary person, or Ichigo's classmate?
Sado Yasutora frowned slightly. He didn't understand what kind of monster Wu Biao meant, but he'd sensed that something had been following him all along.
A look of struggle appeared in the little parrot's eyes. It glanced at everyone in the room, then finally spoke after a long pause. "I'm sorry. It's all my fault. My uncle got hurt because of me!"
Sado blinked. At fifteen, he'd already spent the entire day being called "uncle."
Then Shibata Yuichi, inside the parrot, recounted the Hollow's origins from beginning to end. When he finished, silence fell over the room, and anger showed on everyone's faces.
"I see." Wu Biao murmured with his head lowered. Gradually, he lifted it and looked at the little parrot, a vicious grin curling his lips. A terrifying pressure rolled through the clinic.
A wave of heat emanated from his aura, making everyone feel their blood surge.
"So all we have to do is keep you with us, and that bastard will show up?"
"Yeah!"
"Good. From now on, you... belong to me!"
With that, Wu Biao picked up the birdcage, opened the door, and took out the parrot, placing it on his shoulder. "Anyone who tries to attack you, human or ghost, bite them to death!"
Sado Yasutora was startled. After running for an entire day, he knew all too well how terrifying the enemy lurking in the shadows was. Even with his sturdy body, he'd ended up covered in injuries. He didn't want anyone else getting dragged into this.
"But..."
"Don't worry!" Ichigo interrupted him, then looked at Wu Biao's back. "You can leave it to Brother Biao. He'll be fine!"
Besides, Brother Biao was really angry now. The Hollow's actions had clearly provoked him, so it was better not to get in his way!--
