Chapter 38: Wu Biao's Extreme Rage (4000-word first update)
Inside the 11th Division dojo, a large group of 11th Division members were gathered, sparring with one another. They weren't using Asauchi, but their actual Zanpakuto. Each of them fought with a fanatical intensity, as if they had no fear of death.
The 11th Division, part of the Gotei 13, was renowned above all other divisions for its martial virtue and courageous spirit. The members' Zanpakuto were mostly direct-attack types. The division placed no importance on Kidō, and its captain possessed no ability to use it either.
The division's duty was to serve as the fierce vanguard, representing the most elite professional combat unit in the Soul Society.
The captain, Kenpachi Zaraki, was a battle-crazed warrior who loved to fight. Many lieutenants and seated officers in his division idolized him, often referring to the 11th Division of the Gotei 13 as the "Kenpachi Squad"!
"Level 1 alert..."
When the announcement echoed throughout the Seireitei, the entire dojo fell silent. The man sitting at the head of the room, who had been resting with his eyes closed, opened them. He had a fierce appearance, a scar running down his left cheek, and his captain's haori had a jagged, serrated hem. His long hair was spiked into small, individual strands, resembling a hedgehog.
Each strand was adorned with a small bell. These bells were not ordinary; because Kenpachi Zaraki lacked the ability to sense fluctuations in spiritual pressure, they were specially crafted for him by the 12th Division as Reiryoku Sensing Bells.
Kenpachi slowly sat up, a look of interest appearing on his face. However, paired with his ferocious features, the expression looked more like a sinister grin.
"Yachiru, shall we go kill them?"
A small head with pink hair poked out from behind his back. Although the voice was that of an incredibly cute little girl and her tone was extremely cheerful, the meaning behind her words was enough to make one's blood run cold...
"Independently killing a Gillian—other captains wouldn't even care about such a feat, but I have a feeling... this Ryoka might be quite interesting. I really want to go and try cutting him down!"
His words could be considered an overestimation of a Gillian; even a lieutenant wouldn't pay much attention to the feat of killing one alone, as one could not underestimate those capable of becoming division lieutenants.
That was precisely why the previous announcement had stated that anyone below the rank of lieutenant should not act alone.
In the 1st Division, Captain-Commander Yamamoto slowly raised his head to look toward the western part of the Seireitei, but he soon lowered his gaze to continue examining the documents in his hand. These were... the official orders issued by Central 46.
Although there was nothing unusual about the seals or the style of the commands, Captain-Commander Yamamoto couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong.
"Sasakibe, you should also mobilize some personnel and head to the west to provide support!"
"Yes!"
The 1st Division lieutenant, Chōjirō Sasakibe, who was standing nearby, replied respectfully. Without asking a single question, he turned and walked out of the Captain-Commander's office!
Central 46.
This was the highest judicial organ in the Soul Society, composed of forty sages and six judges gathered from across the Seireitei. It governed the Gotei 13 and the entire Seireitei.
Everyone had to obey the orders issued from here, including Captain-Commander Yamamoto!
Whether a Shinigami committed a crime in the Soul Society or the Human World, they would face trial by Central 46. If the ruling required the use of force, orders would be issued to the 13th Division or other executive units via secret tunnels using encrypted command talismans.
Just like the documents mentioned above, these orders would be sent directly to the 1st Division, and then relayed by the Captain-Commander to all members of the 13th Division.
In summary, this should have been a place of immense power and absolute dignity.
But at this moment, Central 46 was filled with the stench of blood. Whether on the walls or the ornate desks, everything was covered in dried bloodstains.
Waves of the stench of corpses, clearly left there for a long time, permeated the majestic hall, yet they could not escape outside due to some special barrier.
The sages and judges, who were usually high and mighty, all lay in pools of dried blood. Their faces wore expressions of terror and disbelief; they looked pathetic, yet at the same time, they appeared tragic!
Two figures were hidden in the shadows. One of them was none other than the captain of the 5th Division, Aizen Sōsuke.
However, the gentle smile that usually graced his face had vanished entirely, replaced by an air of arrogance and cold indifference.
The other person was a man with tanned skin and a blindfold over his eyes; he was the captain of the 9th Division, Kaname Tōsen!
"Near the 5th Division, is it?"
Aizen sat high in the seat of authority, speaking to himself in a soft tone. A faint smirk curled the corners of his lips: "If I had known that interesting human would run in that direction, I would have gone to meet him myself. A human with no spiritual power... how truly interesting!"
Kaname Tōsen, standing to the side, asked, "Aizen-sama, would you like me to..."
"No need!" Before he could finish, Aizen waved his hand: "Let him cause a scene. The arrival of this human can accelerate the progress of my plan. Once the captain's meeting concludes tomorrow morning, the captain of the 5th Division... will have to die once!"
"Level 1 alert..."
The announcement, which resounded throughout the entire Seireitei, could be heard clearly even from within the Senzaikyu.
Rukia sat inside the Senzaikyu, gazing out the window toward Sokyoku Hill, the place that would become her execution ground.
Every criminal to be executed by the Sokyoku was imprisoned in this Senzaikyu, and each cell had a window from which the only visible sight was Sokyoku Hill.
This was to ensure that while the prisoner awaited death, they were constantly subjected to the pressure of fear, forcing them to repent for their crimes.
That was why this white tower was called the 'Senzaikyu'!
Rukia, who had been listless, stood up from her chair the moment she heard the announcement.
A human, independently killing a Gillian, possessing immense strength.
Combining these three keywords, even without knowing his name, Rukia knew... the madman who dared to snatch people away from the jaws of hell had arrived!
"That lunatic is here, doesn't that mean Ichigo is also..." Rukia couldn't help but feel a wave of worry. She recalled the description of the Ryoka that Renji had told her when she was first brought here.
Wearing a Shihakusho, orange hair, carrying a large sword—the Ryoka who had been intercepted outside the White Road Gate must be Ichigo.
Now, the appearance of Wu Biao confirmed her suspicions. While she felt touched, she also felt incredibly anxious. She desperately wanted to run out and tell them to go back to the Human World and stop worrying about her.
However, Rukia could not do that. She had already lost her freedom and was nothing more than a prisoner awaiting execution!
Ichigo... you must not die!
"Where are Rukia and that sissy?"
Was it for Rukia?
A strange look flashed across Hinamori Momo's face. She didn't know who the sissy Wu Biao was referring to, but it was impossible for her not to know Rukia, as Hinamori Momo could be considered a classmate of hers from the same year.
Furthermore, both of them came from the Rukongai, and she was one of the few friends Rukia had at the Shino Academy!
But they were only friends. If it were a common difficulty, she would choose to help. But under the verdict of the Central 46, she could only choose to obey, rather than choose to strike out like Renji Abarai!
This could also be said to be the difference between a best friend and a friend; Renji was undoubtedly Rukia's best friend!
Hinamori Momo suppressed the strange look in her eyes and looked coldly at Wu Biao. "You don't have time to worry about others anymore. Since you had the guts to break into our 5th Division barracks, then... stay here!"
Just as she said "stay here," the Zanpakuto at Hinamori Momo's waist was already unsheathed. The moment the last word fell, her figure rushed toward Wu Biao, who was right in front of her.
Seeing Hinamori Momo attacking, a look of concentration flashed in Wu Biao's eyes. The spiritual pressure of a lieutenant-level officer was worlds apart from the previously encountered 3rd Seat Togakushi; the gap was immense.
But, that was all!
Wu Biao stepped forward. Instead of dodging, he took the initiative to attack.
He threw a punch. This punch unleashed the power of his physical body, forming a terrifying force that caused the surrounding air to emit faint, strange noises.
As the roar sounded, Hinamori Momo's expression changed, and her eyes shrank violently. Even before contact, she had a faint premonition of the power of this punch. But the arrow was already on the string and had to be fired; she could only pour all her spiritual pressure into her Zanpakuto.
Amidst the roar, the Zanpakuto let out a sharp blast. Wu Biao's punch accurately avoided the blade's edge and struck the body of the sword directly. This caused the Zanpakuto in Hinamori Momo's hand to deflect, grazing past Wu Biao's side.
The hand holding the sword felt a terrifying, vibrating force coming from the blade. A punch that relied purely on physical strength to break through techniques had actually shattered the spiritual pressure on the Zanpakuto, which left her eyes filled with disbelief and shock.
How can there be such terrifying physical strength?
Hinamori Momo thought in horror, but she had no time to dwell on it, because after knocking the Zanpakuto aside with one punch, Wu Biao had already closed in and was smashing a fist toward her!
"Bakudō #39: Enkōsen!"
With a low shout, as spiritual pressure surged, a circular protective shield appeared between Hinamori Momo and Wu Biao.
What is this?
Wu Biao looked at the shield that appeared out of thin air with a flash of curiosity in his eyes, but the movement of his hand did not slow down in the slightest. He struck the protective shield directly; the shield only blocked him for less than two seconds before it crumbled.
However, those two seconds were enough. The moment she used Shunpo under her feet, Hinamori Momo had already leaped back, distancing herself from Wu Biao, her eyes filled with gravity.
The battle happened in an instant, and many of the members present had not yet reacted. It was only when Hinamori Momo was forced back by a single punch that they realized what had happened, and the looks they cast at Wu Biao were already filled with fear.
To force Lieutenant Hinamori Momo back with a single punch—could this really be achieved just by having great strength?
"Kill!"
But they were official Shinigami after all. In the blink of an eye, they calmed the fear in their hearts. The moment the voice rang out, a large group of Shinigami rushed straight toward Wu Biao.
The sudden attack saw spiritual pressure and Kidō running wild in this not-so-large cafeteria.
"Interesting!" Wu Biao let out a strange cry, looking at the various Kidō spells coming his way with a heart full of curiosity. He was becoming more and more interested in these Shinigami, but... the stronger the opponent, the happier he was!
He had intended to retreat and dodge first, but he discovered that there were seven or eight figures behind him, also rushing over with murderous intent. This scene caused a savage grin to hook onto the corner of Wu Biao's mouth. Since he couldn't dodge, he would face the war head-on!
The moment the thought crossed his mind, Wu Biao did not hesitate. He took a fierce step forward, charging directly into the many Shinigami rushing toward him.
The dozen or so Shinigami facing him grinned hideously, their Zanpakuto slashing directly at the oncoming Wu Biao!
In the blink of an eye, they collided with Wu Biao.
A roaring sound exploded. Wu Biao's fists turned into streaks of afterimages, throwing out a dozen punches in an instant. Moreover, every punch landed with pinpoint accuracy on those Zanpakuto, emitting bursts of metallic clashing sounds.
Accompanied by the retreat of one figure after another, those dozen or so Shinigami were actually sent flying backward, vomiting blood in an instant.
However, these dozen people had delayed Wu Biao for several seconds. Behind them, a crowd of Shinigami pointed their palms at Wu Biao, chanting the same incantation!
"Mask of flesh and bone, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! Inferno and pandemonium, the sea barrier surges, march on! Hadō #31: Shakkahō!"
Almost the moment the first dozen Shinigami were sent flying, the incantation was finished.
Just as Wu Biao stood steady, twenty fireballs swept toward the area where he was located.
Before the fireballs could reach him, an incredibly scorching heat rushed toward his face, causing the Kanonji Style disciple uniform on Wu Biao's body to wrinkle, and his hair to curl slightly from the heat.
"You're actually playing with fire?"
Wu Biao couldn't help but be stunned at the sight. Using palms to emit fireballs was truly unheard of. However, the expression on his face gradually became serious, and he took a step, preparing to escape the area.
However...
"The carriage of thunder, the gap of the spinning wheel, this thing gathers light and divides into six—Bakudō #61: Rikujōkōrō!"
Hinamori Momo, who had been waiting for this moment at the back of the formation, struck at this time. Six beams of light forged from spiritual pressure bound Wu Biao in place.
Wu Biao's expression sank slightly. As he exerted force with his arms to break free, faint cracks appeared on the six beams of light, and they shattered in an instant. But, that moment of delay meant the twenty fireballs had already arrived; it was too late to dodge!
"Then break for me!!!"
Wu Biao let out a roar. Instead of retreating, he advanced, charging head-on into the dense swarm of fireballs.
The Shinigami of the 5th Division sneered at the sight; by attempting to withstand Kidō with his physical body alone, this man was undoubtedly courting death.
A thunderous roar erupted, shaking the surroundings and causing the entire cafeteria to tremble.
Yet, from within the sea of fire created by the exploding fireball, a figure wreathed in flames charged out. The expressions of the 5th Division members shifted one by one, especially those standing nearby, whose pupils constricted sharply in sheer disbelief.
They saw that Wu Biao, whom they had imagined would be reduced to ashes by the Shakkaho, was currently charging out from the violent blast without a moment's hesitation, heading straight for the group ahead.
Although his clothes were tattered and smoldering with sparks, and his hair was emitting black smoke with a pungent, charred scent.
His exposed body, however, was completely unscathed aside from some scorch marks—a scene that would leave anyone stunned.
"How is this possible?!"
"To withstand Kidō with a pure physical body without using Reiatsu for protection, that's impossible!"
"This Ryoka... his physical strength has actually reached such a terrifying level!"
At this moment, Wu Biao's face was twisted in a savage expression, clearly enraged to the extreme, his eyes bloodshot and glowing a deep red.
As for why he was so furious... it was entirely because as he charged, his handsome center-parted hair had turned into black ash and drifted away in the wind.
Revealing... a gleaming scalp!
Since he wasn't using Reiatsu to protect his body or his hair, while his physical defense allowed him to survive the Kidō unscathed, his hair lacked such protection. Under the intense heat, it had instantly turned to charcoal, and after the wind blew through it... one could say it was even shinier than if it had been shaved with a blade.
Not only had this group burned the clothes that the teacher at Kanonji had given him, but they had also ruined his hairstyle. He had spent nearly half a year growing that center part, only for it to be burned away completely by a single blast of fire.
How could this not make Wu Biao angry? How could it not drive him mad? How could it not make Wu Biao... roar!
"Heads may be broken, blood may be shed, but the hairstyle must never be ruined. You burned my hair, so today I'll turn all of you into bald monks!!!"
Brother Biao: I'm bald, therefore I'm invincible! (Funny)
