History

A physicist from Gulmira, Yinsen was held captive by the Ten Rings in Afghanistan alongside Tony Stark. He helped Tony build a miniature Arc Reactor and the Mark I Combat Armor. When the armor's control program needed more time to load, Yinsen took a gun to draw the captors away. He was gravely wounded, but Tony used the remaining acorns from a healing bracelet to keep him alive 41.

Yinsen remained unconscious after their escape. At Tony's request, Oaks Lin healed him, and Yinsen recovered at the Benevolence Society before joining Oaks's new company as its first official researcher 42 43 45. Mercenaries subsequently attempted to abduct him; Oaks repelled them and refused S.H.I.E.L.D.'s offer to take Yinsen into its custody 46 47.

At Oak Environmental Technology Company, Yinsen developed Steel Foot One, a mechanical prosthetic leg for Benevolence Society vice president Blaze Clark. He later worked with Bruce Banner on Tyr's Hand, a mechanical arm for Bucky Barnes 49 252.

Personality

Yinsen calls himself an ordinary man despite his scientific accomplishments. After surviving an escape he had expected to die in, he is initially unsure what to do with his second chance. His work on Blaze's prosthetic gives him a way to put the engineering lessons of the Mark I armor toward helping someone rather than building a weapon 44 45.

He remains concerned for Tony after they part ways. When he sees news of the Ten Rings' attack on Gulmira, he trusts Tony to keep his promise to stop producing weapons but worries about the Stark Industries arms appearing there 50.
