They were all anime creators. Most of them had already seen the finished product. They weren't especially concerned about the quality of the finished work—or they'd already been concerned about it. They didn't care much about the anime airing now. What mattered more to them was how the audience would react after it aired.

A lot of people weren't into giant robots. Li Duoyu, for instance, really didn't like them.
Most of the people who were especially fond of robots these days were veteran otaku, or people who'd been into anime for a long time and were already halfway out of the hobby.
They'd usually joined the workforce by then and didn't have the energy to stay up all night. No matter how much they liked something, they'd save it for tomorrow—even if it was the weekend.
So there really weren't many people staying up late to follow Invasion, this late-night anime.
