Background / History

Rena was born a princess of the Succubus race. From childhood, she resolved to overturn the world's stereotypes of succubi by leading her people down a different path and setting an example herself. This ideal was severely tested after she met Lord Ash, toward whom she developed an overwhelming attraction. 74

During Ash's first campaign, Rena served as the Ash Empire's administrator, strategist, and foremost sorceress. She was stationed in the imperial capital while the other major Contractors handled military training, public morale, weapon production, and other infrastructure. 290

After Ash defeated the Mother of Corrupt Calamity and his soul began draining from his body, Rena disobeyed his order to remain in the rear. She exhausted herself with ultra-long-distance teleportation to reach the Abyss, concealed his body, established a teleportation anchor, and sought Anno's aid. 289 290

Together with Anno, Rena used the World Tree to investigate other worlds, learning that Saviors, Corrupt Calamity, and the beings controlling the worlds were connected by a larger cycle. Horrified by worlds destroyed or exploited after their Saviors disappeared, she resolved to protect Ash and the other Contractors from the same fate. 292 293 294

Rena chose to revive the Mother of Corrupt Calamity despite the danger, intending to sever the existing Contracts and eventually have Ash form new Contracts using his own power. Anno agreed to assist by using her body to contain the new Calamity. 295

She later conducted a “God-Hunting” operation in another world, defeated and captured a Source of the World Tree, and extracted information on memory points, Saviors, and the beings behind the worlds. Rena subsequently arranged a memory point intended to bring Ash back. 301 302 303 304
