Background / History

Yu Xiaogang is the son of Yu Yuanzhen of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan. His earlier treatment by his clansmen after awakening the Luo Sanpao martial soul shaped his sensitivity to status, talent, and public recognition. 2 168

He became Tang San’s teacher at Notting Junior Spirit Master Academy. When Tang San collapsed following Yang Ziyuan’s capture of Xiao Wu, Yu Xiaogang immediately sought treatment and tried to reassure his disciple. 35 36

After Heaven Dou Royal Academy declined to include Tang San on its competition team, Yu Xiaogang brought him to Blue Tyrant Academy through his connection with its dean. 89

Yu Xiaogang is intensely devoted to Tang San’s growth. He repeatedly comforts his disciple, searches for ways to complete the Asura God Trial, seeks outside assistance, and confronts powerful figures despite his physical decline. 35 102 115 145

His confidence in his own theories makes him rigid and defensive. When faced with Yang Ziyuan’s abnormal spirit-ring configuration, he insists that it must be an illusion rather than reconsidering his established absorption-limit theory. 35 36

He is driven by a need for recognition. Yu Xiaogang views Tang San’s success—especially success in the Soul Master Tournament and eventual godhood—as the path through which his own theories will be acknowledged by the world. 129 137 141

Yu Xiaogang returns to find Tang San unconscious after the conflict involving Xiao Wu. He doubts the reality of Yang Ziyuan’s abnormal spirit rings, attributes them to an illusion, and attempts to help Tang San recover from his depleted spirit power. 35 36

Asura God Trial Support

After Tang San becomes the Asura God’s successor, Yu Xiaogang helps arrange support from Tai Tan and advises Tang San on obtaining a ten-thousand-year spirit ring, a head soul bone, and resources for the trial. 89 90 102 103

Origin Regression

Yang Ziyuan secretly attacks Yu Xiaogang with Origin Regression, draining his spirit power and life force. Yu Xiaogang is left withered, weakened, and publicly humiliated as he struggles to reach Blue Tyrant Academy. 91

Yu Xiaogang travels to Martial Soul Hall seeking Bibi Dong’s guidance for Tang San’s Twin Martial Souls. He uses Tang Hao’s Elder Token against a guard, confronts Yang Ziyuan over Tang San and the Clear Sky Sect, and loses the token when Yang Ziyuan revokes it. 115 116
