Inside the boeing airliner's business class cabin, Azu charged straight through, smashing the lavishly equipped seats to pieces.
When the last seat shattered, Azu saw his target.
Edie Orr, missing his left ear and with his cheek disfigured.
Veins bulged across the man's body as a layer of iron-black spread over his skin, turning him into a "black man" in the blink of an eye.
Azu did not care about any of that and rammed straight into him.
Edie Orr did not even have time to groan before he was sent flying backward. He smashed through the wall and flew into the galley, scattering everything and leaving a complete mess behind.
Electric sparks flashed in the galley, and green smoke rose.
Without bothering to check whether his target was dead, Azu's eyes glowed dark red as two beams immediately blasted into the galley.
As Azu moved his head, the beams sliced through the galley, shredding the room and the cockpit behind it.
Chunks of cabin debris, large and small, slid down, and Azu's view suddenly opened up.
He saw Edie lying on the ground. The lower half of the man's torso had been cut apart, and his right arm was nowhere to be seen.
Even so, he was somehow still alive. Flesh rapidly grew over his body, constructing a new body.
The process was likely excruciating. Edie let out a string of screams as the vertebrae on his back bulged, and bony spikes broke through his skin one after another.
Perhaps afraid of being attacked by Azu, Edie suddenly jumped out of the plane and landed in the shadows of the terminal hall.
Azu frowned slightly, rushed out, smashed through the plane's fuselage, and landed on the ground.
In the darkness, a figure quickly began to twist, and then two clusters of red flames burned and moved through the shadows.
Suddenly.
The figure lunged out.
A helicopter happened to be passing outside, and its brilliant searchlight shone into the hall.
It allowed Azu to see clearly that Edie had completely turned into a monster.
He had stretched to over eight feet tall, his upper body severely mutated. A row of bone spikes grew from his back, his left arm extended past his knees, while his right arm remained normal in length but its hand had become a massive claw.
Many short black hairs grew across his face. His nose was gone, and his face had taken on a somewhat bat-like appearance.
A row of dense, sharp teeth protruded from his lips, like those of a vampire from legend.
He moved swiftly, arriving before Azu in an instant and shouting, "Tonight, Homelander's myth will fall!"
Edie swung his huge claw, bringing its sharp talons together like blades and stabbing toward Azu's chest.
Everyone in the helicopter saw the scene clearly.
They were BBC Radio personnel. The reporter aboard let out a startled cry and spoke into the camera.
"Everyone, did you see that?"
"A monster! A monster attacked Homelander."
Inside the hall.
Edie's claw struck Azu's chest, kicking up a ring of air. But the claws that could easily pierce steel plates not only failed to break Azu's skin, their tips even snapped off.
Edie's blood-red pupils abruptly contracted. Then a row of bony plates, like shark teeth, grew along the outside of his left hand.
He turned!
He swung his arm!
Edie whipped that long arm around, chopping toward Azu's neck!
Another wave of startled cries erupted from the helicopter.
But the next moment.
The reporter saw Edie's arm snap and bend at a grotesque angle. The bone pierced through the flesh, spraying a burst of blood.
Azu closed his eyes and smiled.
"What did you just say?"
He abruptly opened his eyes.
Two beams shot out.
Edie screamed and leaned back, narrowly avoiding the beams. Then he twisted and rolled sideways, barely escaping the vertically sweeping beams.
"You're pretty nimble."
Azu smiled and suddenly flashed away.
He could easily catch up to A-Train, so how could he possibly fail to catch Edie?
Thus, while Edie was still rolling, Azu had already appeared behind him.
He reached out, pressed down on the back of Edie's head, and violently smashed him into the ground.
Bang!
The entire airport shook.
Edie was driven headfirst into the ground by Azu.
Azu then raised his foot and kicked. Edie's waist twisted out of shape as he was sent flying backward.
He blasted through a huge section of the hall's windows and flew onto the airfield, only stopping after bouncing and rolling several times.
Edie's entire body was now deformed, and who knew how many bones had been shattered.
But soon, his body wriggled. His muscles pushed the bones back into place, rapidly restoring him.
By the time Azu floated out of the terminal, Edie had already climbed to his feet and was laughing loudly.
"It's useless."
"I am immortal."
The words had barely left his mouth.
When Azu struck.
Both palms slammed against Edie's ears. Edie screamed as his entire head deformed, his eyeballs and tongue bulging out.
Azu smiled.
He clenched his fist and punched Edie in the lower abdomen.
With a bang, a column of blood erupted from Edie's back. Azu had punched a hole straight through his body.
Then.
Azu unleashed a barrage of punches and kicks.
When he stopped.
Edie was no longer recognizable as human.
Yet after the mass of flesh wriggled for a moment, it returned to its original form.
It was just that Edie seemed to have expended a great deal of stamina.
He panted heavily without stopping.
"I see."
"An astonishing healing ability."
"No wonder you were called 'Disasters.'"
Azu crossed one arm over his chest and lightly pinched his chin with the other.
Despair showed in Edie's eyes.
He already knew that even after injecting Holy Blood, he was no match for Homelander.
"Monster!"
Edie looked at Azu and said, "But don't get too smug."
"I am only the first wave. There will be a second wave, then a third!"
"In the end, we will destroy your evil country!"
Azu nodded. "I agree with that."
Edie screamed hysterically, "Darkness will come from across the ocean! It will eventually swallow all sunlight, and all things will wither beneath it. Only the Night Kingdom will stand apart from the world!"
"Are these your last words?"
Azu flashed before Edie, gripping his shoulders with both hands as he smiled.
"You know what?"
"I'll punch a hole through your Night Kingdom and all that bullshit darkness."
"Just like this!"
Light flared in his eyes. The dark red radiance grew brighter and brighter until the entire airport was dyed red.
Boom!
A cannon-like torrent of dark red light burst from Azu's eyes, instantly burning Edie's head and a portion of his chest into ashes.
Azu suddenly lifted his head, letting the howling torrent of light sweep into the sky. It tore through the thick clouds in the night sky, streaked past the enormous silver disk, and vanished at the end of the night.
The dark red torrent slowly receded.
Azu watched as the corpse in his hands gradually lost its luster before turning into drifting wisps from the inside out and dissipating into nothingness.
At that moment, information appeared on Azu's retina.
