Halfway through the afternoon class, sunlight spilled through the windows onto the textbooks, warm and cozy enough to make one drowsy.
Shangguan Che slumped over his desk, one hand propping up his chin while the other twirled a pen. He really had no heart to listen to the teacher drone on about spoken English—mostly because he had already learned this material, and combined with the unique Japanese-accented English, listening to it again felt like a curse.
Since I'm bored anyway, I might as well summarize the intelligence I've gathered over the past few days. Shangguan Che calculated in his mind, pulling out a notebook and pen. He pretended to be taking diligent notes, but in reality, he was doodling and scribbling, launching his own "Class Intelligence Analysis Meeting."
First up was Class A of the first year.
Shangguan Che recalled the scene he had witnessed while observing the Class A classroom with his Clairvoyance, his pen tip pausing:
"There seem to be two people in charge of Class A. During the last class meeting, Katsuragi stood up first to discuss class affairs, speaking quite logically. But no sooner had he finished than a little white-haired girl with a small cane stood up slowly from her seat and added a few points."
Thinking of that white-haired girl, Shangguan Che couldn't help but frown: "She looks physically frail, needing a cane to walk, and she doesn't even write her name on her textbook. It's been driving me crazy that I still don't know her name."
Suddenly, his eyes lit up: "Right! How could I have forgotten that the school's student database has photos matched with names? I was so stupid before."
Shangguan Che simulated the process in his mind: "Filter by grade first, then by class, and then match the photo. I'll definitely find her."
Within seconds, he had "locked onto" his target: "Found her! Sakayanagi Arisu. The file says she has a congenital heart condition? Then how did she get into Class A?"
Shangguan Che rubbed his chin, muttering to himself: "Logically, if your health is poor, your academic progress should be easily affected, right? But Class A is full of top students. This seems a bit contradictory, but then again, it might not be an issue at all. After all, she might just be a genius."
After thinking about it for a long time without reaching a conclusion, he simply gave up: "Forget it, why think so much? It has nothing to do with me anyway."
He continued writing: "Class A has two leaders. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? If the two get along and cooperate, Class A will surely grow stronger and stronger;
If they don't get along and start infighting, that would be interesting. But looking at Katsuragi and Sakayanagi, they seem quite harmonious for now. I'll just wait and see."
Next was Class B of the first year.
Thinking of Class B, Shangguan Che couldn't help but smile: "Class B is completely different from Class A. Ichinose Honami is the sole leader, and she even elected class representatives, forming a preliminary leadership hierarchy. It looks quite professional."
He recalled how he and Ichinose often chatted but never mentioned the situation in Class B, explaining to himself: "It's not that I don't want to talk about it, it's just that Ichinose and I are friends, but our classes are in competition. I can't just go around leaking Class B's situation."
"That would be too uncool. I have to try my best not to let the competitive relationship seep into our pure friendship. I'm quite clear-headed about this; after all, both the system tasks and our friendship are important."
Shangguan Che remembered Class B's team-building activities and couldn't help but shake his head: "Class B has way too many team-building events! A small gathering every three days, a big one every five days, and a full-class meeting every ten days. Thank goodness I'm not in Class B; otherwise, I'd be exhausted from attending parties every single day."
"I'm not saying the atmosphere in Class B is bad; on the contrary, it's so good that it makes you think they're all one big family." Shangguan Che smiled helplessly, "They have good relationships and gather often, but their social hierarchy is divided into people they dislike, superficial friends, friends, close friends, and brothers. But I don't like parties, so I just don't fit in with them."
Suddenly, he thought of the scene he had seen earlier with his Clairvoyance, and his expression darkened: "With such a united Class B, the leader, Ichinose, is actually being threatened at gunpoint? That's too dangerous! Although I don't know who did it, they definitely have ill intentions. I have to remind Ichinose to watch her safety."
Then, Class C of the first year.
Mentioning Class C, Shangguan Che's pen paused, and his expression became complicated: "The leader of Class C is Ryuen Kakeru, with long red hair that is particularly eye-catching. I noticed the school doesn't seem to care how long students grow their hair. That's quite liberal. Thinking back to my old high school, they didn't care either, so that's fine."
What puzzled him most was how Ryuen Kakeru became the leader: "Looking at the atmosphere in Class C and my observations over the past few days, I can guess that he probably got the position through bullying, right?"
As soon as this thought popped up, Shangguan Che felt speechless: "Does the school not care about bullying? And the students in Class C don't report it? Are they not afraid of Ryuen Kakeru?"
He remembered the scene he had accidentally witnessed last time, and his face instantly turned black: "If I hadn't seen Ryuen Kakeru use a move as vulgar as the 'Thousand Years of Death' on a black student in the restroom with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed it."
"That sight was so traumatic that I still feel like my eyes have been defiled! Although I watched the whole process, I firmly believe I'm fine—the one with the problem is Ryuen Kakeru! If he hadn't done such a thing, would I have seen it?"
Shangguan Che wrote a few words heavily in his notebook: "Class C is Ryuen Kakeru's one-man show, a typical dictator."
After thinking for a moment, he added: "From a historical perspective, dictators eventually fail; but from a famous historical perspective, dictators usually have moments of shocking peak performance."
"However, for a bully like Ryuen Kakeru, I have Clairvoyance, so I shouldn't be at a disadvantage. Probably."
Finally, Class D of the first year, his own class.
Shangguan Che looked at the words in his notebook and couldn't help but sigh: "Class D, well, it's just that. It's about the same as my old elementary school."
He recalled the situation in the class and smiled helplessly: "Everyone knows that skipping class, talking, and sleeping are bad behaviors, but sometimes they just can't control themselves. Their bodies act before their brains, and they regret it afterward."
"Take Sudo, for example. He sleeps in class every day and chats about games with Ike and Yamauchi after class. I've told him countless times, but he never listens."
"I've figured it out. From now on, whatever Hirata asks me to do, I'll do it. But other than what I'm willing to do, no one is going to make me do a single extra thing." Shangguan Che secretly made up his mind, "In elementary school, I was too eager to contribute to the class, and in the end, besides the teacher, no one remembered me. I can't be that stupid again."
Class analysis done, time to analyze individuals.
Ichinose Honami: "I can't see any problems at all, but the more that's the case, the more I feel she has a huge problem. This sense of unease keeps making me send her compliments from time to time, hoping to find some clues from her reactions."
Karuizawa Kei: "After these days of observation, she has become the leader of the gal group, and she has this 'I'm the boss, you're second' attitude. I think she lacks some proper education. As for how to educate her, I haven't figured it out yet. Let's take it slow."
Hirata Yosuke: "A genuinely sunny, good guy. No issues for now, status is good, keep it up."
Sakura Airi: "She's been right under my nose, completely no... wait! That pink letter that looks like a love letter seems suspicious!"
Shangguan Che's pen suddenly stopped, and his mind began to struggle again: "Should I read that letter or not? If I read it, it seems like I'm violating her privacy; if I don't, I'm dying of curiosity about what's written inside."
After thinking for a long time, he finally made a decision: "Forget it, I'll ask her after school. Given Sakura's personality, she should tell me the truth."
He looked down at his notebook and saw that he had written less than a page. He couldn't help but smile: "Good thing I wrote this in a notebook. I'll tear it out and throw it in the trash when I get back to the dorm. I can't let anyone else see it, or it'll be trouble."
Just then, Sakura suddenly called his name: "Shangguan, how do I solve this problem?"
Shangguan Che jumped up, his mind blank. Fortunately, he reacted quickly; relying on the content he had just been pondering, he walked over to Sakura's desk and began to think seriously.
After replying to Sakura, Shangguan Che realized.
Oh, class was over.
After sitting down, he patted his chest, calling out in his heart: "That scared me to death. I'm never writing these things in the classroom again. If anyone else finds out, I'll be finished."
