Background / History

Uzushio Village

Kushina was the Third Elder's granddaughter in Uzushio Village. Chosen as the only Uzumaki clan member suitable to inherit the Nine-Tails, she was ordered to leave her family for Konohagakure. She initially cried and resisted the move, but accepted it after her grandfather explained that she could return once she had grown stronger. Before her departure, Clan Head Mu En entrusted her with the Uzumaki Clan's treasured Sealing Jutsu. 113

Jiogan arrived as her Konoha escort after eliminating nearly three hundred foreign ninja operating across the Land of Whirlpools. Kushina met him at Uzushio's banquet, introduced herself as his escort target, and asked him to take good care of her. Before leaving, she declared her ambition to become Konoha's strongest female ninja and a female Hokage. 113 114

Arrival in Konoha

Jiogan brought Kushina to the Senju compound, where Mito Uzumaki warmly received her. Jiogan later guided Kushina through Konoha to help her adjust to her new home, during which she met Minato Namikaze for the first time. 114 118

At the Ninja Academy, other students mocked her red hair and called her “Tomato.” Kushina fought back and defeated several bullies despite being outnumbered. Jiogan publicly confronted the children’s parents and the academy, making clear that Kushina had his protection. 119

Cultivation and the Nine-Tails Transfer

Under Jiogan's guidance, Kushina learned to sense Heaven and Earth Qi in the Konoha Spirit Gathering Array. Though Minato succeeded first, Kushina followed a day later and formed her Sea of Origin through the Tai Chi Water Profound Technique. 121

Kumogakure later abducted Kushina. She killed two of her captors before Minato rescued her; after the incident, the two confessed their feelings. 122

Following Mito's declining health, Kushina was confined under Anbu surveillance before the transfer of the Nine-Tails. Frightened by the prospect of becoming a Jinchuriki, she was comforted by Jiogan, who helped activate the Eight Trigrams Sealing formation that transferred Kurama into her body. Growth as a Jinchuriki
