The girl with short white hair leaned on her cane, walking at a slow pace with a faint smile on her pretty, cute face. "To actually claim that this was your first time playing chess."

It wasn't that Arisu Sakayanagi was boasting, but in chess matches, she had never lost to anyone.

Yet, during their recent exchange, Dokuho Kouya had insisted that he was a complete novice and that today was his first time playing chess.

Dokuho Kouya shook his head. "I have no intention of humiliating you; I am simply telling the truth."

Before this, he hadn't even known how the pieces moved in chess.

"Dokuho Kouya, you really do love to lie," Arisu Sakayanagi said with a beaming smile. "I wonder how many girls have been deceived by your lies."

"Heh." Arisu Sakayanagi sneered.

She wouldn't believe a single word the boy said.

Arisu Sakayanagi's beautiful eyes looked over calmly. "Shall we exchange information?"

The two chatted and laughed as they arrived at the dormitory building.

The Advanced Nurturing dormitory housed both male and female students in the same building.

The boys lived on the lower floors, while the girls lived on the higher floors, which was why the building was equipped with an elevator.

Dokuho Kouya and the others stepped into the elevator, preparing to head to the upper floors where the girls lived first.

Just then, a girl's anxious voice rang out from outside.

"Please wait!"

A tall girl came running over in a hurry.

Seeing this, Dokuho Kouya held the elevator door, leaving time for the girl.

"Phew... I made it."

The short-haired girl caught her breath, sweat beading on her forehead.

"There was no need to sprint, you know. I would have waited for you, Sayo Ando," Dokuho Kouya said with a smile.

"Eh?" Sayo Ando blinked her eyes, her small face looking surprised. "I thought it was just that your back looked a bit similar, but it really is you, Dokuho Kouya."

"I'm Sayo Ando from Class 1-B," the girl replied with a smile, then looked at Dokuho Kouya with an admiring gaze. "I never imagined Dokuho Kouya would know how to play chess. That feels really impressive."

To Sayo Ando, chess was a high-end game played only by elites.

Someone like her couldn't even understand the rules.

"Weren't you planning to go to karaoke with your classmates, Sayo?" Dokuho Kouya asked curiously.

"We already finished singing," Sayo Ando said with a smile. "Considering we might need to buy a lot of daily necessities later, we each only sang two songs before heading over to the dorms."

"There shouldn't be that many people there right now," Dokuho Kouya remarked.

The freshmen from other classes likely returned to their dorms shortly after the entrance ceremony ended, only to head back out to purchase their daily necessities afterward.

It would probably be after they finished shopping that those students would head to karaoke or other entertainment facilities to relax.

The students of Class 1-B, however, did the opposite: they went to have fun first, then went to buy their daily necessities.

They had successfully avoided the peak hours.

"Dokuho Kouya, Arisu Sakayanagi, would you like to go to the nearby convenience store with me later?" Sayo Ando invited.

She seemed to be an extroverted social butterfly, easily inviting classmates she had just met.

"I'm sorry, but I would like to return to the dorm to rest for a while," Arisu Sakayanagi said, nodding gently as if apologizing.

"I don't have a problem with that."

Although Dokuho Kouya had decided to become a loner in Class 1-B.
