Background
Zhou Yang was born into the Jade Spring Zhou Clan’s sixth-generation Yuan branch. He ranked ninth among the fifteen Yuan-generation cultivators, yet was their strongest member from an early age. Although he possessed only medium-grade Spiritual Root aptitude, his cultivation speed greatly exceeded comparable cultivators due to his latent Treasure Body. 1
He retained twenty to thirty years of memories from a previous life on Earth. This experience shaped his early preference for remaining within the Zhou Clan rather than becoming a Yellow Sand Sect disciple: he valued the clan’s support and freedom over life under a sect hierarchy. 1
He began cultivating at four, entered Qi Refining at seven, reached Foundation Establishment at thirty-four, and became Zhou Clan Leader that same year. At 127, he abdicated in favor of becoming a Supreme Elder. 9 304
Appearance
Zhou Yang is repeatedly described as a handsome, imposing man whose bearing reflects both his cultivation and long experience as a clan ruler. 36 364
- Shoulder-length hair during his youth. 1
- Considerably taller and more refined in appearance than Chen Shi. 364
- Often wears golden robes; later appeared publicly in a crimson robe he refined himself. 431 765
- His dignified presence and authority were noted even when compared with sect disciples of higher cultivation. 364
Personality
Zhou Yang is deliberate, clan-minded, and restrained. Upon reaching Qi Refining Layer Six, he gave up the remaining Earth Vein Spiritual Qi rather than claim it for himself, prioritizing future access for other Zhou cultivators. His humility toward Zhou Xuanhe and Zhou Minghan likewise earned him their confidence early in life. 1 2
As a leader, he favors systems that reward contribution and self-reliance. He expanded opportunities for clan members to adventure, created incentives for hunting demonic beasts, established the Heroic Roll, and instituted policies meant to increase the Zhou Family’s long-term supply of Foundation Establishment cultivators. 206 207 387
He is cautious with unknown dangers and avoids creating needless enemies, but he can be uncompromising when family, disciples, or old debts are involved. He personally investigated the poisoning at Night Glow Town, refused to abandon Xiao Ying during an ambush, threatened the Heavenly Phoenix Clan over Jiang Fengxian’s disappearance, and pursued enemies who had wronged him. 227 583 768
