"I am Baiye Ying, and I am currently in one of the most mysterious places in the world. This place is called the Kouiku Artificial Uninhabited Island, and the only thing accompanying me here is this camera.
I have to survive here for four days until the special exam ends. For me, this island, full of crises and unknowns, is a massive challenge, but I will not give up easily; instead, I will challenge myself and challenge nature."
Under a tree, Baiye Ying held Kaneda's camera in one hand, aiming it at himself while recording.
"Many people think of a desert island as a paradise, but in reality, they are the most painful prisons! Now, I am going to show you how a human being can survive here!"
"You won't die from not eating for seven days, but without water, a person is gone in three. Therefore, our most important priority right now is a water source.
However, we are lucky. I remember the beach is nearby, and there are many coconut trees there; we can solve our water problem there."
As he spoke, Baiye Ying stood up and walked straight toward the south. Before long, he emerged from the dense forest and saw the vast ocean.
"Although the scenery here is beautiful, every second we have is precious, and there is simply no time to enjoy it."
Saying this, Baiye Ying picked up a rock, aimed at a shorter coconut tree, and began to knock down coconuts.
"Lucky me, this coconut is ripe. Now, let's go to the reef and crack it open."
Next, Baiye Ying carried the coconut to a large reef by the sea and began to smash it.
"Great, we've cracked open a coconut. You can see the delicious coconut water and meat inside. Let me have a taste."
"Hmm, the taste is not bad. But the amount is too small; let's knock down a few more coconuts."
Baiye Ying began to repeat his previous actions. One after another, coconuts were knocked down by Baiye Ying with rocks, and he chiseled a hole in each to drink.
"Alright, now that we have the most sufficient source of water for survival, let's go find a food source, and finally, think about how to improve our living conditions."
Baiye Ying said this as he began to search along the coastline.
"Look! Those are wild oysters! Oysters are generally gregarious; the fact that there is one here proves there are many more nearby."
Baiye Ying said this and circled halfway around the rock, and sure enough, he found more oysters on the other side.
"Although you can eat raw oysters, there is a high probability of getting an upset stomach. It would be great if I had a pot to boil them... but I can't worry about that now. Let's eat two first to test the waters."
Baiye Ying pried open an oyster shell and slurped the soft, slippery oyster into his mouth.
"To be honest, the taste is... alright?"
Having finished his breakfast, Baiye Ying returned to the place where he had started recording.
"Although this location has poor terrain and a bad view, this is our base because those are the rules. Next, we are going to explore in the opposite direction. I haven't been there yet, and who knows, we might find something good."
Then, Baiye Ying stepped deep into the jungle. After walking about two hundred meters, he discovered a pond.
"Look at that!? A pond! Holy crab, it's even closer to the base than the beach! If I had known fresh water was right here, why would I have been smashing coconuts!"
Baiye Ying complained a little, but immediately adjusted his mindset.
"No, no. In the wilderness, one cannot have negative emotions. Negative people are more easily defeated by nature; we must maintain a positive attitude toward problems!"
"This is truly great! In just one morning, by walking a few more kilometers, I've secured a source of fresh water!"
Baiye Ying leaned down, cupped some water in his hands to drink, and splashed his face. Feeling his body and mind relax significantly, he discovered another surprise in the pond.
"Oh, man! Look, those are fish! Our dinner is sorted!" Baiye Ying cheered.
"A predecessor once taught me some techniques for catching fish. If you want to catch fish with your bare hands, you must first place your hands in the water for about five minutes to lower your body temperature to match the pond water. This way, when you approach the fish, they won't easily notice you."
Baiye Ying placed the camera by the pond and began to demonstrate catching fish with his bare hands.
"Once our hands touch the fish, we must grab it immediately. Now, I am approaching one of them."
"Reaction!"
Baiye Ying shouted, but the fish escaped his grasp. Afterward, Baiye Ying used the same method to catch fish, but none were successful.
"Maintain a good attitude, don't give up. Failure is the mother of success. I've already found the feel for it; if I fail again, the one across from me is Katsura!"
"Hah! Hahahaha!"
This time, Baiye Ying finally caught a fish.
"Pressure~~~! We're having grilled fish tonight, folks."
Two hours later, Baiye Ying caught another fish, but the efficiency was too slow, so he began to think of other methods.
"Now I'm going to collect rocks to enclose a small pool within the pond, and then set up a slightly curved entrance in the small pool. The fish will easily enter the small pool but will find it hard to get back out."
"Now that it's built, we can just come here and pick them up in the future!"
After building the fish trap, the sky gradually turned dark. Baiye Ying returned to his "base" and began to grill the fish.
"Today was truly lucky! As expected of the Kouiku Artificial Island, the freshwater fish pond is mysterious! It smells so good!"
At this moment, Baiye Ying heard a "rustling" sound. He hurriedly stopped talking and listened intently.
"We must... stay quiet now. We aren't sure what is making that sound." Baiye Ying whispered to the camera.
"Baiye, you're quite capable, aren't you?" A disheveled red-haired man crawled out of the bushes, sat down beside Baiye Ying without a word, and picked up the other fish Baiye Ying was grilling to eat.
"It, it's actually a local native of the Kouiku Artificial Island! We're doomed!" Baiye Ying shouted in fear.
"Keep your voice down. Also, what are you muttering to yourself about?" the man said.
"Fine, I can keep my voice down. But why did you eat the fish I worked so hard to catch! I've been hungry all day!" Baiye Ying shouted even louder. Yes, that native was Ryuen Sho.
"Stop making noise! Isn't this the extra food you prepared yourself? Didn't I put your basic rations in the supply box over there?" Ryuen reached out one hand, picked at his ear, and said.
Sup...ply... box...?
Ying seemed to think this word didn't exist in this world, and he looked in the direction Ryuen pointed. Behind the rock he was sitting on, he saw a gray-black box.
"Damn it! Why didn't you say so earlier!!!" Ying shed tears of sorrow.
Time returned to the morning of the fourth day on the Uninhabited Island. Ying had wanted to wander around the nearby woods to think about how to expose the evidence against Kaneda.
As a result, he hadn't walked many steps before he saw gray smoke rising in the distance. Thinking it was a forest fire, Ying hurried over.
Then he discovered Ryuen boiling water...
"Tsk! To think I'd be discovered. Hey, Class B, there are two choices now: one is that you get beaten up by me and go back to the cruise ship to recover, and the other is that you get beaten up by me and stay here the whole time. Which one do you choose?"
Ryuen stood up and slowly approached Ying.
"You, aren't you afraid I'll report you to the school for breaking the rules!?" Ying took a step back and said.
"You can try reporting me, if you aren't afraid of the future retaliation from Class C." Ryuen responded. Pressure~!
"Wait! I'll definitely stay here properly! I guarantee no one will find out!" Ying raised both hands in surrender.
"Chosen? You can't tell anyone about me being here!" Saying this, Ryuen extinguished the fire that was the source of the trouble. He had thought that at such an early hour and in such a remote place, no one would be able to find him, but he had been bumped into by Ying.
"However, I still have to give you a warning." As Ryuen spoke, a fast and accurate right straight punch flew toward Ying's face.
Ying's pupils shrank, he tilted his head to dodge the punch, and his body instinctively reacted, giving Ryuen a shoulder throw.
"Uh... are you okay?" Ying asked, feeling a bit embarrassed. The system's Katsura only manifested in situations like this.
Ryuen quickly scrambled to his feet and threw a side kick with his right leg, but Ying crouched down and used a sweep kick, knocking him to the ground again.
"Hahaha! Interesting! Byakuya, you kid have been hiding your skills well!" Ryuen laughed loudly, slowly stood up, and without any further moves, simply turned and left.
"Why are you still here?" After finishing the free grilled fish, Ryuen asked this.
"Mmph? Didn't I say I would stay here?" Ying said, stuffing his face with supplies.
"Don't want to say? Forget it. It's better if you stay here." Ryuen said.
"By the way, where do you sleep at night?" Ying looked around at the surroundings, which had nothing but a supply box, and asked.
"There's a simple sleeping bag there, but it's only big enough for one person. Figure something out yourself." Ryuen pointed behind him, where there was indeed a simple sleeping bag.
"Actually, I just wove a straw mat out of vines, it's quite comfortable to lie on. Do you want to try it tonight?" Ying said with a straight face.
"Uh... sure?"
Ying: Yay, I get to sleep in the sleeping bag!
