"The rain has finally stopped. I was about to suffocate!"
Outside a cave, Baiye Ying took off his mask, stretched his back, and took deep breaths of the air after the rain.
"The exam ends tomorrow, and I can finally return to the cruise ship for a wonderful vacation! I've finally made it through."
Baiye Ying walked to the shore, lay down on a giant reef, listened to the sound of waves crashing against the rocks, felt the cool sea breeze, and watched a strange man wearing a leaf mask...
"Baiye-kun, so you were here. I've been searching so hard for you~." The man wearing an abstract mask made of leaves said.
"Who... the hell are you?"
Baiye Ying stood up abruptly, but his foot slipped, and he fell into the seawater.
"Cough, cough, cough! How did you know... You've got the wrong person, I am Uchiha Coconut Mask..."
"Oh~, I remember now. You are Uchiha Coconut Mask, not Baiye Ying." Baiye Ying choked on the seawater for a moment and scrambled to his feet, trying to deny it, but he was interrupted by the man.
"So, who are you, and what do you want with me?" Baiye Ying asked while picking seaweed off his hair.
"First, let me introduce myself. I am not Hashimoto Masayoshi; I am the Justice Leaf Knight!"
Hashimoto said while striking a pose he had learned online.
As expected, Baiye really likes this way of greeting. Hashimoto thought to himself.
"So it's the Justice Leaf Knight who isn't Hashimoto." Baiye Ying felt that Hashimoto was being a bit abstract. Who would randomly make a mask out of leaves and tell people they weren't themselves, but some kind of knight?
"Actually, I came to find Baiye... Coconut Mask to discuss something important." Hashimoto hoped to finish the task Sakayanagi had given him and get off work early. He didn't want to play along with this abstract nonsense either, but everyone said that if you weren't abstract, Baiye Ying wouldn't talk to you.
He had heard from a classmate's intel that Baiye Ying was wearing a coconut mask, and later heard from a Class D student that they saw someone in a coconut mask heading toward the beach.
Hashimoto had simply grabbed some leaves to make a makeshift mask and searched along the coast until he finally found Baiye Ying just now.
"What is it about? Could it be... the natives of the Uninhabited Island?" Baiye Ying asked.
"I suppose you could say that. Forget it... talking like this is too tiring. Baiye, let me get straight to the point." Hashimoto felt he couldn't keep up the act anymore, so he took off his mask, preparing to get down to business with Baiye Ying.
"I've already said, I am Uchiha Coconut..."
"Fine, fine... Uchiha Coconut Mask. I came to find you regarding this exam. Sakayanagi asked me to tell you, Class B, that the leader of Class A is Totsuka Yahiko. If you want proof, I can give it to you."
As Hashimoto said this, he displayed a camera, which presumably contained a photo of Totsuka Yahiko's leader card.
"Since it's about Class B, go find Class B. I'm an outsider; what's the point of telling me?"
Baiye Ying crossed his arms and said.
"What happens next is up to you in Class B. This information is a token of gratitude from our princess, so I will only tell you." After saying this, Hashimoto handed the camera to Baiye Ying and left.
"So, I have to deliver it to Class B myself?" Baiye Ying said, looking at the camera.
But if he gave it to Class B, would they really cast a vote? Baiye Ying didn't know, but he remembered telling Amikura and the others to go pick oysters. Perhaps he could give them the camera there and pick up some oysters to eat while he was at it.
"Hey, Asako, that looks like Baiye-kun!" Shiroba was picking oysters. Having heard that oysters could be eaten raw, she had already eaten quite a few.
"It really looks like Baiye. Go call Honami!" Amikura looked at the coconut mask; only Baiye Ying would dress like that. She hurried off in the direction of Ichinose.
"The leader of Class B, someone wants you to know something."
Baiye Ying said, handing the camera to Ichinose.
Ichinose had wanted to greet Baiye Ying and ask how he had been these past few days. But seeing Baiye Ying's committed performance, she knew it was useless to ask, so she decided to see what he was doing instead.
"As for what you decide, that depends on you and your Class B." After saying this, Baiye Ying turned around, intending to leave.
"That... Coconut Mask-kun, aren't you coming back to Class B?" Seeing Baiye Ying about to leave, Ichinose couldn't help but try to keep him.
"I am Uchiha Coconut Mask, just a person with no identity, no hometown, and nothing at all."
After saying this, Baiye Ying left without looking back. Ichinose, meanwhile, fell into deep thought as she looked at the contents of the camera...
"Yo, Ryuen, you're back?"
That night, Baiye Ying had returned to his original attire and was sitting by a campfire, waiting for Ryuen to return after checking in.
Ryuen ignored Baiye Ying's greeting as usual and crawled into his sleeping bag.
The exam ends tomorrow. No matter what Baiye has done, the one who will ultimately be victorious is Class C! Ryuen thought to himself.
On the seventh day of the Uninhabited Island exam, all students and classes gathered on the beach where they had first landed, waiting for the teachers to announce the final verdict.
The lists of guessed leaders had already been filled out by the leaders of each class. Now, every student had a tense expression on their face; this was the conclusion of their first special exam.
"Hey, those people from Class C, they've clearly given up, right?"
At the Class D gathering spot, Ike said this while looking at the empty Class C area.
"It seems that's the case. Good, that means Class D will be in the top three!" Sudo clenched his right fist and said nervously.
At the Class A location, it was deathly quiet. Katsuragi stood at the very front, arms crossed, waiting silently for the results to be announced. He also felt that the first place in this exam belonged to Class A.
At the Class B gathering spot, everyone was discussing whether Baiye Ying would actually come here to assemble.
"The teacher seemed to say that as long as you were one of the last students remaining on this island, you had to come here to assemble," Hamaguchi recalled.
"Does that mean Ying will come back!" Beppu said happily.
"Yeah," Shibata replied firmly.
"The Uninhabited Island exam has concluded. We will now announce the results..."
Just as Mashima, the homeroom teacher, was about to announce the exam results, an abrupt voice interrupted him.
"Wait, sorry teacher, I'm a step late."
A red-haired man with somewhat tattered clothes emerged from the dense forest.
"That's... Ryuen from Class C! Didn't their entire class return to the cruise ship!? How is he still here!" Ike from Class D exclaimed.
"And the person behind him, isn't that Ying? Isn't he from Class B? Why is he with Ryuen!?" Sudo noticed Ying, who was also in disarray behind Ryuen, and asked in confusion.
"Hmm, please return to your class's designated waiting area." Mashima simply nodded at the two and said.
"Ying, why were you with Ryuen? Why didn't you return to the camp?" As soon as Ying walked to the camp, Hamaguchi and the rest of Class B began to question him.
Ying turned his back to the Class B students, covering his eyes with his arm, his shoulders trembling slightly as if he were crying.
"I'm sorry to everyone in Class B. Although I was captured by the wild natives of the Uninhabited Island and went through great hardships to escape, I didn't return to the Class B camp immediately. This led to me being threatened by Ryuen of Class C and forced to be his lackey. For the past few days, I've been working like a slave for him, serving tea and water, and I've caused Class B to lose so many points. It's all my fault! Wuu wuu wuu!"
Ying knelt on the ground and began to wail loudly. Although the people in Class B knew that 90% of this statement was fake, they still chose to forgive Ying and began to comfort him.
"Byakuya-kun, everyone knows you care about the class; no one will blame you! Please pull yourself together and witness the end of the exam with everyone in Class B!"
Ichinose said as she pulled Ying up.
"That's right, Ying, we won't blame you." Hamaguchi also came over to grab Ying. Ying sniffled, wiped his nose on Hamaguchi's clothes, and hugged Hamaguchi while continuing to cry.
"Don't you dare push your luck! Stop it right now!" Hamaguchi cursed angrily.
The others laughed when they saw this scene, and the previously tense atmosphere eased up.
"Alright, quiet down. Next, I will announce the exam results. First, in fourth place... Class C, first year, 0 points."
Ryuen's originally confident smile froze, and his eyes revealed disbelief.
"Third place, Class A, first year, 90 points."
The Class A students, led by Katsuragi, also showed surprise. Although they knew Class A might be finished once they heard Class C had zero points, they were still very unwilling to accept it now that the results were out.
"Second place, Class B, first year, 210 points."
"Yeah!"
The Class B students began to cheer. Ying also nodded; he had calculated it—150 points from the original story, plus 100 points and minus 40 points, which added up perfectly.
"First place, Class D, first year... 225 points!"
The students of Class D were stunned for a moment, then began to cheer even louder than Class B.
"What a pity, it was only a 15-point difference. If only Shiroba hadn't gotten sick and returned to the cruise ship," Hamaguchi sighed.
Ying: ? Shiroba got sick? Then these points don't add up, do they?
