The Scientific Truth System Is Way Too Much Fun! I Summoned Grey Wolf at the Start!

"Enough! I've had it! This great king has had it!"

"Bang!"

A lump of black, impurity-riddled iron was hurled to the ground with a dull thud.

Grey Wolf, wearing a patched-up gray fur coat and a battered top hat, was so furious that his fur stood on end. He pointed at the scrap metal and cursed.

"Qin Feng! Look! Just look at this stuff! You call this iron? Huh?! It's got more impurities than iron! This junk isn't even good enough to make my wife a frying pan, and you expect me to use it to build a precision sheep-catching... no, Soul Beast-catching trap? You're insulting the intelligence of the greatest scientist in the wolf clan!"

In the dark, damp basement of the work-study students' dormitory at Notting Academy.

Qin Feng dug at his ear. He was already used to seeing the "wolf" before him hopping mad.

That's right. It was Grey Wolf.

The very same Grey Wolf who was always shouting, "I'll be back!"

As a proud transmigrator, Qin Feng had been in Douluo Continent for six years. He'd also brought along a cheat called the "Scientific Truth System."

The system's purpose was simple and straightforward.

In this fantasy world of Douluo Continent, where everything revolved around Martial Souls, Soul Rings, and Soul Power, it would spread scientific knowledge and use scientific truths to crush everything!

As long as Qin Feng did something that left other people "astonished"—whether they were amazed, shocked, or scared—he could earn "Astonishment Points."

He could spend Astonishment Points in the system shop to redeem all kinds of scientific knowledge, blueprints, and materials. He could even... summon scientists from other worlds to help him.

And Grey Wolf was the first "top scientist" Qin Feng had summoned, using the beginner's gift pack provided by the system.

"Brother Wolf, Brother Wolf, calm down, calm down."

Qin Feng put on an apologetic smile and offered him a carrot he'd just "borrowed" from the cafeteria. "Here, soothe your throat. I know the conditions here are a little rough, but we're just getting started."

Grey Wolf snatched the carrot and glared at Qin Feng with his beady eyes. "Don't try to fob me off with this! I, the great Grey Wolf, am a carnivore! I want to eat sheep! Meat, at the very least! You make me gnaw on carrots every day, and I can feel my wolfish nature fading away!"

The angrier he got, the harder he ranted. He kicked a crude contraption made from wood and hemp rope beside him.

"And this! A hand-cranked generator? Good grief! Back at Wolf Castle, I used a seventh-generation perpetual energy core! You expect me to crank this thing here? I could crank my hands right off and still not light a fifty-watt bulb! What a disgrace! An absolute disgrace!"

Qin Feng looked at his partner, who was on the verge of a breakdown, and felt a headache coming on.

And he had the nerve to call himself a carnivore? As if he'd ever eaten sheep back in Pleasant Goat Plains.

What could he do? He wanted to use high technology, too!

But the prices in the system shop were downright ridiculous.

[Basic Electrolysis of Saturated Saltwater Apparatus Blueprint: 100 Astonishment Points] [Blast Furnace Ironmaking Technology (Beginner Version): 300 Astonishment Points] [First-Generation Internal Combustion Engine Core Principles: 800 Astonishment Points] [Penicillin Purification Technology: 1500 Astonishment Points] ...

And his current Astonishment Points balance was a glaring "0."

"No Astonishment Points means I can't redeem new blueprints or materials. No new stuff means I can't make a big spectacle. No big spectacle means I can't earn Astonishment Points..."

Qin Feng muttered to himself. It was a vicious circle.

"No, I have to break out of this rut!"

He got to his feet and paced back and forth in the cramped basement.

"I have to find an opportunity to make a big splash and rake in a pile of Astonishment Points!"

Grey Wolf snorted and sat to one side, sulking. "Make a splash? How? With this heap of scrap metal? I'm telling you, Qin Feng, you can't make bricks without straw. My great scientific inventions need precision instruments and high-quality materials. A few sticks of wood won't cut it!"

Qin Feng ignored his complaints, his mind racing.

To earn Astonishment Points, he had to overturn the assumptions of the people who lived in this world.

And what was the most deeply ingrained belief in this world?

Martial Souls! Soul Power! Those supernatural, downright unreasonable Soul Skills!

If... he could use the simplest "science" to do things that normally required Soul Power, or that could only be done with a specific Martial Soul, the shock he caused would be on a nuclear scale!

"Got it!"

Qin Feng stopped in his tracks, his eyes lighting up with something called a "plan."

"Brother Wolf, don't be mad. I've thought of a great way to earn our first bit of capital!"

Grey Wolf gave him a sidelong glance and asked crossly, "What way? Are you going to catch me a sheep?"

"Catching sheep would be boring." Qin Feng's mouth spread into a wide grin. "I'm going to take you to see a good show. A show... that'll make us rich!"

As he spoke, he walked over to the corner of the basement and started rummaging through a pile of junk.

Grey Wolf leaned over curiously. "What are you looking for?"

"Our first 'tool of the trade.'"

Qin Feng quickly pulled a sturdy wooden pole, about two meters long and as thick as an arm, out of the junk. Then he brought over an irregularly shaped rock that came up to about half his height.

He hefted the pole and patted the rock, looking satisfied.

"These will do."

Grey Wolf's face fell. He pointed at the pole and the rock in disbelief, his voice rising an octave.

"Qin Feng! You're not joking, are you? Your big show to make us rich is just a lousy stick and a worthless rock?!"

"You're crazy! You must be crazy! I'm not playing along anymore! I'm going back to Wolf Castle! I can't stand another second here!"

Grey Wolf felt that his understanding of science had been insulted like never before.

He, the great inventor, had sunk to keeping company with sticks and stones?

But Qin Feng smiled mysteriously, patted Grey Wolf on the shoulder, and lowered his voice. "Brother Wolf, do you believe that these two things alone can make a bunch of self-important Soul Masters' jaws drop? They'll get down on their knees and call us 'Dad'!"

"And our first target has already appeared."

As he spoke, he pointed toward the only ventilation shaft in the basement.

From that direction came faint shouts and cheers, mixed with a boy's clear, sharp cry.

"Controlling Crane Capturing Dragon!"

At those four words, Qin Feng's smile grew even brighter.

He knew the show was about to begin.

And the star of the show was Tang San, the once-in-a-century genius with Twin Martial Souls!

"Come on, Brother Wolf. Let's go watch! And while we're at it... we'll harvest a few leeks!"

Qin Feng pulled the still-bewildered Grey Wolf along, opened the hidden door leading to the dormitory, and headed outside toward the lively training ground.

In his mind, the Scientific Truth System's mechanical voice rang out.

[Beep! The host has locked onto a "key plot character"—Tang San!] [The target character's current actions are causing a small-scale sensation. Classified as a "low-value" event.] [Beginner guidance mission issued: Use scientific truths to create a "dimensionality-reduction strike"-level event in front of the key plot character, Tang San, and earn your first Astonishment Points!] [Mission rewards: One beginner's gift pack and 500 Astonishment Points!]

Qin Feng's breath caught slightly.

500 points!

That was enough to redeem blast furnace ironmaking technology and the electrolysis apparatus!

"Tang San, Tang San, don't let me down."
