"So you dreamed about me?" Ansu asked, surprised.
Freya gently shook her head. "I couldn't make out your exact appearance in my dream. It was only a vague, indescribable perception of Divinity..."
"You couldn't even see my face, and you're still saying it was me?" Ansu furrowed his brow. "I still think you've got the wrong person."
"No! I couldn't possibly be mistaken!" Freya took Ansu's hands and gently placed them against her chest. "Please listen to the voice in my heart, my Chosen One! I wouldn't joke about something like this. The fate of the entire world is at stake..."
"Mm..." Ansu was certainly feeling something, too.
It was big and soft...
So far away that he couldn't hear her heartbeat at all...
Freya continued recounting what had happened to her over the past few days.
"Ever since the divine revelations started coming more frequently, I've been staying in Benalu City."
"During this time, I've been trying to find the Chosen One among the vast crowds. I even tried all sorts of methods, but I never found a single clue..."
"But then, something unexpected happened!" Freya grew excited. "It seemed the gods really were watching over me. Just when I thought I'd never find my Chosen One, a mysterious note suddenly appeared before me!"
"Right..." Ansu was speechless. That note had caused him no end of trouble.
"Talun County, Blackstone Town, Elvin Village... That's where I was born." Freya's voice grew quieter, as though she found it difficult to talk about. "My identity is rather sensitive. At first, I thought someone was trying to use it to threaten me in secret..."
Freya sighed softly. "Because of that note, I couldn't eat or sleep. I was afraid my identity would be exposed and put the people around me in danger. I was also afraid the Church would cast me out, and I'd no longer be able to carry out such a sacred mission..."
"But then, something unexpected happened!" Freya's excitement returned. "In the days after I received that note, the revelations in my dreams suddenly became much clearer! I could almost feel the sacred will of the gods! The Chosen One was drawing closer and closer to me..."
When she finished, Freya gazed at Ansu with burning eyes. She had clearly decided that the Chosen One was the man standing before her.
"Hold on, hold on!" Ansu felt that something was off about what she'd said. "The Chosen One was drawing closer to you. What does that have to do with me?"
"Even if I was the one who wrote you that note! I mean, hypothetically, just hypothetically..."
"That still doesn't prove I'm the Chosen One, does it? What's the necessary connection between those two things?"
Ansu stared in bafflement at Freya's fervent expression. You've been thinking about this so much that you're dreaming about it, and now you've decided the person who sent the note must be the Chosen One.
"No!" Freya shook her head decisively. "You, Ansu Morris, are the Chosen One! The moment I saw you in the lecture hall, I knew it. You're my Chosen One!"
Her gaze was filled with utter devotion. "My Chosen One, I've finally found you. This time, I won't let you out of my sight!"
Ansu looked at Freya helplessly. Does she have some kind of cheat ability?
Even the all-powerful heretical Order and Cecilia couldn't find the Chosen One, yet Freya had identified him at first glance?
For a moment, Ansu didn't know what to say. The stubborn, obsessive Saintess had clearly set her sights on him, and no matter how much he denied it, she didn't seem likely to change her mind...
"Wait, let me think..." Ansu pressed a hand to his forehead, his mind racing. In this situation, he needed to find out whether Freya was the only one who knew his identity. That was extremely important!
"My Chosen One..." Freya murmured. "Why won't you admit it? Is there some difficulty you're facing... or have you not yet awakened the sacred mission the gods bestowed upon you?"
"Freya!" Ansu warily glanced around. "Are you sure this place is safe?"
"My Chosen One, it really is safe here. Are you worried someone's watching us?" Freya looked at the tense Ansu in confusion.
Ansu nodded.
Freya suddenly closed her eyes. Ansu immediately sensed a soft, holy glow emanating from her fair skin. Her whole being radiated a mysterious, sacred power.
"My Chosen One, don't underestimate me!"
A moment later, she slowly opened her eyes and smiled. "The bishops and the faithful didn't choose me as their Saintess solely because of my divine perception. I'm quite powerful, too!"
"There's no unusual supernatural energy within a kilometer of the church, and there's no trace of dark magic, either. Don't worry. Everything here is under my control!"
Ansu felt a little more at ease. After all, Freya's Heart of Holy Radiance talent was undoubtedly top-tier.
But it still couldn't compare with the Witch of World Destruction, Cecilia.
Ansu figured there was no way Cecilia could remain unaware that Freya had come to see him today. So he immediately began preparing an "emergency plan."
He definitely couldn't admit it.
Coming clean right now would only bring him trouble. But Ansu did want to get on Freya's good side. The more clues he could gather, the better, especially when it came to investigating Fated Death.
"Freya," Ansu asked seriously, "who else knows you came to see me? Does Bishop Paul know?"
Freya hurriedly shook her head. "They don't know. I only decided to come after I saw you..."
"Oh..." Ansu breathed a sigh of relief.
Seeing how much this seemed to matter to him, Freya continued to explain.
"I've been staying in Benalu City to find the Chosen One. The senior bishops in the Church know that, but they don't know I've found you."
"Only Bishop Paul knows about the note. He's trustworthy. He was the one who brought me to the Church in the first place..."
"That's good. That's good..." Ansu smiled, deciding to come clean about part of it. "I can tell you now that I really was the one who wrote that note to you."
Freya's face lit up with joy. Had her Chosen One finally decided to trust her?
"But!" Ansu's tone changed. "I'm not admitting that I'm the Chosen One you're talking about. Believe what you want."
Freya froze for a moment, turning Ansu's words over and over in her mind.
The more she thought about them, the more she felt there was a deeper meaning...
Not admitting it didn't mean he wasn't.
Ansu had to be the Chosen One! There was no doubt about it. But he kept refusing to admit it, which could only mean he was facing some difficulty...
Freya didn't want to make things harder for her Chosen One. If he didn't want to admit it, he must have had his reasons.
"That's all right. It's enough that I believe you." Freya smiled gently. She was very considerate. "Since you don't want to reveal your identity, Ansu, I'll make sure to keep it secret for you!"
"Good." Ansu smiled meaningfully. He hadn't expected the young Saintess to be so perceptive that she'd fill in the blanks herself.
This tacit understanding—that only she knew and he knew—couldn't have been better...
"My current position is rather special." Ansu spoke to her mysteriously. "I don't want to attract too much attention, so I hope you'll keep this to yourself and not cause me any trouble."
"Mm, mm! All right!" Freya nodded excitedly.
The secret mission Ansu was working on must be very important! Otherwise, he wouldn't have gone out of his way to emphasize it to her.
