Background & History

Freya was born in Elvin Village, Talun County. Her mother came from the northern Staya tribe, while her father was a declining noble who abandoned his family status to remain with her mother. Freya inherited a demi-human bloodline that manifests as pink cat ears, an identity she was taught to regard as impure. 24 33

Because she could receive divine revelations through dreams from a young age, Bishop Paul brought her to the capital, where she became the Church of Holy Light's Saintess. Her dreams later led her to seek Ansu, whom she believed to be the Chosen One destined to save the world and reform the Church. 23 24

Freya initially concealed her heritage, but a confrontation with a demi-human priest awakened her bloodline and forced her human disguise to fail. Church colleagues and demon hunters turned on her after seeing her true form, leaving her disillusioned with the institution she had served. 150 151

Ansu encouraged Freya to live for herself rather than according to the Church's prejudice. When he arranged a fire at the manor to erase her identity as the Saintess, she accepted a new beginning and set out toward the Northern Borderlands, homeland of the Staya tribes. 151 159
