Beneath the Red Sea Tree lay a hidden space under the seabed.

It had waterways where someone could get lost for a lifetime, tangled seaweed, and countless hiding places set up by the mermaids who lived there.

The mermaid Hailan swam through a narrow passage to the most secluded part of the underwater space.

Five mermaids were already hiding there. When Hailan appeared, they emerged from cracks in the rocks and sand.

All five shared one distinctive feature: a sizable portion of the scales on their tails was blue-green. Even the one with the fewest had at least a third of his tail covered in blue-green scales.

These blue-green-scaled mermaids also had much more alert eyes than the others.

One of them swam up to Hailan. "Xiao Lan was taken away."

Hailan gritted his teeth.

He hadn't been there, but when Xiao Lan had taken his place and stayed behind, it had meant Xiao Lan might well be killed or captured by the Wizard who came after them.

"It was my fault." Hailan didn't try to shirk responsibility. "I was reckless and went to observe that new Wizard."

A few days earlier, when he'd met Coral, she had mentioned a new Wizard whose scent seemed very familiar. He hadn't been able to resist moving a little closer to observe him.

But who could have guessed that the Wizard's Mental Power would be so strong?

Hailan's spirit body was extremely unusual, with powerful concealment abilities. Many Tier 2 Wizards had walked right over him without noticing his presence.

Even those Tier 3 Wizards—especially the male Wizard with short red hair—wouldn't detect him as long as he kept far enough away.

But earlier, Hailan had barely approached the seabed before the new Wizard noticed him.
