There was no wind by the sea.
That was highly unusual.
But as Thor swept his gaze across the area ahead, he saw ring after ring of Witchcraft Arrays laid out across the pebbled shore with a special powder.
As far as he could see along the coast, there were over a hundred such arrays.
Each one was simple, just an ordinary Air Barrier Array. But combined, the hundred or so arrays could turn a coast once swept by sea breezes into a completely windless region.
"Suppressing the wind along the coast takes quite a bit of effort."
Word that Thor had come to help with the defense had already reached the Wizards in the Defense Zone. He had only been there a short while when Luo Ye flew over and landed beside him.
"Haha, Thor, I didn't expect you to come. You've been cooped up inside for days, so I thought you'd keep experimenting until the Black Tide passed."
Thor knew the Black Tide wouldn't last just a day or two. He glanced around. The Wizards were all on high alert, so the Masquerade Ball mentioned in the Diary's warning probably wouldn't happen right now.
Still, he had come just in case.
"I lost track of time while experimenting, then remembered that the Black Tide was due around now, according to the reports. So, how is it? Am I late?"
Luo Ye looked delighted and clapped Thor on the shoulder. "Of course not. The first wave of the Black Tide is about to arrive, though. Anyway, I appreciate you coming. Stick with me once things start."
Though Luo Ye said he appreciated Thor's help, now that Thor was on the coast, he couldn't just let him act on his own.
Having Thor stick with him was the best option.
