Thor plunged into the sea, as if he had gone from peacetime to wartime. The Corruption in the water seemed to smell blood, like sharks, and swarmed toward him.
His ordinary clothes were immediately corroded, leaving them tattered.
Thor didn't activate the Defense Array. He simply transformed into a Black Skeleton, using Magic Power to protect only the skin below his left wrist.
"The Storage Device is a little inconvenient on my wrist." As he swam down toward the base of the Wizard Tower, he thought, "If the Corruption in the sea exceeds what I can withstand, or if it gets damaged in a fight, the space inside could be affected. It wouldn't be so bad if everything inside just spilled out, but if the space warps and the contents are damaged, that would be a serious loss."
There was plenty of Corruption in the Black Water, but it was nothing compared to the seawater near the Eye of the Abyss.
Thor took out the Mermaid's Tear, and the surrounding seawater immediately drew close to him. It diluted the Corruption in the sea, and the purer water enveloped Thor, allowing him to focus on observing the scenery beneath the sea.
Thor turned and swam toward the base of the Wizard Tower.
He saw that the tower's base was connected to a layer of rock. That layer was just as slender, stretching down into the unseen darkness of the seabed.
It was as if the Tier 4 Wizard who had died here had barely managed to preserve the tiny patch of land beneath him. Everywhere else had been mercilessly swept away by the Black Tide.
Near the rock layer, Thor spotted more of the same scraping marks from scales, extending down along the rock.
