"How can we leave a message without ordinary students destroying it?" Fred turned to ask George.

George shook his head. "I only know that carving words directly into the wall won't work. We can't damage the castle."

"That's right. Hogwarts Castle is a whole," Scott said. "The magic contained in this castle is too immense. Our magic can't leave a mark of damage on any of its walls."

Fred asked curiously, "What about a message like the one that appeared on the wall tonight? I noticed the letters are still glowing. What kind of spell did the 'Heir of Slytherin' use?"

"I don't know either."

Scott really didn't know what magic Tom Riddle, inside the Diary Horcrux, had used to control Ginny and leave glowing words on the wall.

He began to explain his own idea. "I'm going to use a Permanent Sticking Charm to stick the letters to the wall. I happened to come across the spell in a book, and I even asked Professor Flitwick about it."

He continued, "This won't count as damaging the wall, so it won't trigger the castle's magical response."

"It's that simple?" Fred looked surprised.

"Simple, but effective." Scott smiled. "It's always difficult to separate things stuck together with a Permanent Sticking Charm."

George nodded in agreement. "It really is a good idea. My dad used one to stick our Magic Clock to the wall at home. It's a pity we don't know the spell yet. Otherwise, I'd permanently stick Percy's mouth shut."

Fred said, "Oh! I suspect Percy knows the spell too. He's already stuck that Prefect Badge firmly to his robe!"

"Come on, you can't do that. Otherwise, Mrs. Weasley will stick all your hands and feet together," Scott said, amused.
