On the Marauder's Map, Ginny's name was still pacing back and forth inside the empty classroom Scott had just fled.
Scott took a few deep breaths, then sat down against the railing at the edge of the top floor.
All he could do now was wait.
Would Tom Riddle realize someone had been in the empty classroom?
If Riddle himself had been there, he would undoubtedly have noticed some clues.
At the very least, the magic Scott had used would probably still linger.
But all Scott could do now was hope that Riddle, controlling Ginny and unable to use his full power, would overlook it.
He also hoped that a Basilisk was completely different from an ordinary snake.
Ordinary snakes could detect where their prey was by sensing the slightest vibrations in the ground, and some species could even sense heat.
If the Basilisk had that ability too, it would already have detected the body heat Scott and the Twins had left in the classroom.
Luckily, it seemed that luck was still on Scott's side.
On the Marauder's Map, Ginny's name circled the empty classroom several times before finally leaving and returning to the corridor.
Scott breathed a sigh of relief again.
It seemed all his preparations hadn't been for nothing!
At the thought, even Scott, who was usually so calm, couldn't help clenching his fist and punching the air.
His gaze remained fixed on Ginny's name on the Marauder's Map.
Next, she lingered in the corridor for a while, then entered the girls' bathroom where the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets was, before slowly heading toward Gryffindor Tower.
Was it over?
Sitting on the ground, Scott stretched out his legs and leaned back against the railing, relaxing as he gazed up at the stars in the night sky.
