Function and Mechanics

Attraction and Repulsion

  • Shinra Tensei repels surrounding objects and ninjutsu, using the caster as its center 45.
  • Banshō Ten’in draws a designated target toward the caster 45.
  • These powers are not confined to Fang Xiu’s Deva Path body: his clones and Asura Path also employ Rinnegan attraction and repulsion 120 142 150.
  • Repulsion is not an absolute defense. Chizuru Kagura’s manifestations tear through Fang Xiu’s Shinra Tensei force field 133.

Chibaku Tensei

  • A high-level Rinnegan sealing technique that gathers material around a gravitational core to imprison targets 45 59.
  • Fang Xiu uses it against Clover and two other giant monsters 59 70.
  • A sufficiently powerful attack against the central black sphere can destroy its gravitational pull 59.
  • Creating a genuine moon represents a much higher ceiling, illustrated by Hagoromo and Hamura’s sealing of Kaguya 59 102.

Six Paths Integration

  • The Six Paths share vision and memories; their advanced applications include internal power circulation and the stacking of strength 143.
  • Their common origin allows cultivation insights to pass between avatars. When Deva Path comprehends the Western Emperor inheritance, Animal Path also gains understanding 175.
  • Fang Xiu can direct the Deva Path while his main body remains in Origin Sphere Space 174.
  • Deva Path can place a wisp of primordial spirit inside another puppet, as demonstrated when it remotely operates Great Xia Dragon Sparrow in Undying Mountain 193.

Buddhist Conversion

The Zhunti incarnation uses Buddhist power to subjugate powerful beings.

  • Releases scripture chants, golden runes, and immeasurable Buddhist light to forcibly convert Crocodile Ancestor 186.
  • Uses the Heaven-Devouring Demon Jar to brand released Great Sage demons as servants 186.
  • Leads a campaign to convert the Heavenly Prince; the resulting transformation into a Buddhist puppet is attributed to Amitabha 194 195.
  • Can resonate with Buddhist faith reserves, but cannot freely appropriate them when their owner refuses access 188 192.

Inherited Ocular Protection

  • The divine eye patterns inherited from Fang Xiu’s main body emerge during the exploration of Ancient Jade Lake 176.
  • Amenotokotachi protects Deva Path from the Underworld’s ominous contamination and curses while approaching the remains of the Queen Mother of the West and her husband 176.
  • This protection does not remove every danger: the pressure in the tenth-tier immortal pool strains the primordial spirit inhabiting the avatar, even with imperial weapons guarding it 176.

Void Travel

  • Crosses immense distances without the mystic jade platforms commonly used in the Shrouding the Heavens world 175.
  • Travels between regions of Beidou and later leads its followers through space to Earth 180 187.
  • Its mobility supports independent exploration while other bodies cultivate or undergo transformation 184 193.

Appearance

  • Captain Mike incarnation: Samsara ripple patterns fill its eye sockets 156.
  • Zhunti incarnation: Wears an ancient monk’s robe and has a sorrowful expression 174 181.
  • Has a shiny bald head, noted by Great Xia Dragon Sparrow when choosing how to address Buddhist cultivators 187.
  • Manifests a divine wheel behind its head and surrounds itself with golden Buddhist radiance 187 188.

Equipment and Items

  • Crimson Edge Spear — A modified Spear of Destiny. Deva Path fully awakens it while releasing the restrictions on its third-stage Gene Lock 162.
  • Vajra Pestle — Emits dazzling divine radiance during Crocodile Ancestor’s conversion 186.
  • Heaven-Devouring Demon Jar — Brands demon servants, helps breach Mount Ling, and protects the expedition through dangerous regions. Its later assistance includes supplying a route through Kunlun 186 188 190.
  • Chaotic Ancient Axe — Provides imperial-weapon protection during the approach to Ancient Jade Lake’s tenth-tier immortal pool 176.
  • Twelve-Petaled Merit Golden Lotus — Restrains yin and evil forces, though it cannot completely purify the ominous influence surrounding the Great Accomplishment Sacred Body’s remains 176.
  • Western Emperor Scripture — Obtained at Ancient Jade Lake and used to deepen cultivation 175.
  • Enlightenment Tea — Receives six leaves from a fifty-fifty division with the Zhongzhou Team; later collects more leaves through the Dragon Sparrow puppet 185 193.
  • Shakyamuni’s sealed furnace — Contains a nearly completed Buddhist great medicine, given when the group’s second attempt to access Mount Ling’s faith power fails 192.

History

Creation and Early Deployment

After acquiring the Rinnegan, Fang Xiu becomes interested in turning powerful opponents’ corpses into Six Paths puppets. He later specifically proposes using the corpse of a third-stage Gene Lock reincarnator for the Deva Path. Captain Mike subsequently appears in that role 45 143 156.

During the Investiture of the Gods campaign, Deva Path kills Jiang Ziya after the latter is weakened by using magical treasures. It then coordinates with Human Path and Asura Path against Yang Jian and Nezha. Releasing its third-stage Gene Lock restrictions, it fully awakens the Crimson Edge Spear and draws blood when Yang Jian attempts to block 162.

Ancient Jade Lake

In Shrouding the Heavens, the Deva Path is identified as Zhunti. Fang Xiu assigns it independent exploration while Animal Path operates openly and the main body remains in Origin Sphere Space 174 181.

Deva Path obtains the Western Emperor Scripture and descends through Ancient Jade Lake’s spirit spring, overcoming corpse evils of increasing strength. At the hidden tenth layer, it uses imperial weapons and Amenotokotachi to approach the ancient remains, triggers Wushi Emperor’s recorded message, and absorbs spring essence before retreating from an eruption of emperor aura 175 176.

Central Province and the Zhongzhou Team

Deva Path explores the Feather Transformation Divine Dynasty’s ruins and joins Zhongzhou reincarnators. It describes itself as the captain’s support-specialized body. When the Divine Emperor’s armor awakens and the situation escalates, it chooses retreat rather than risk its accumulated trump cards 180 181 182.

Afterward, it accompanies Lu Li and Wen Qing to the Holy City. With the main body undergoing a profound transformation, Deva Path continues seeking opportunities rather than waiting idly 184.

Demon Recruitment and Mount Ling

Deva Path converts Crocodile Ancestor, frees and brands several imprisoned Great Sage demons, and subdues the Quasi-Emperor Mountain Phoenix. It then leads its followers to Earth in search of Buddhist resources 186 187.

At Mount Ling, it overcomes the broken approaches and uses faith power and karmic fire to advance to Quasi-Emperor. The group is subsequently expelled and transported to Kunlun. A return visit fails to secure more faith power, though Shakyamuni sends a furnace containing Buddhist medicine 188 189 192.

Kunlun and Undying Mountain

With imperial-weapon protection and a supplied map, Deva Path leads the expedition deeper into Kunlun’s Immortal Ascension Land, collecting resources for Fang Xiu’s main body 190 191.

Back on Beidou, it assumes field coordination while both the main body and Animal Path undergo transformation. Rather than expose itself to Undying Mountain, it sends the controlled Great Xia Dragon Sparrow to collect Enlightenment Tea leaves and investigate the Immortal Tear Green Gold Holy Spirit 193.

Heavenly Prince and Forbidden-Zone Operations

Deva Path joins Ye Fan and his companions in targeting the Heavenly Prince’s holdings. After the prince’s conversion, they raid his lair and divide treasures including divine source, a chessboard, and an Enlightenment Tea Tree branch 194 195.

It later accompanies Lu Li into the Ancient Mine of Absolute Beginning as Fang Xiu’s separate bodies pursue operations in other forbidden zones 198.

Relationships

  • Fang Xiu — Creator and controller; Deva Path carries his will, gathers resources for his main body, and manages operations during that body’s transformation 174 188 189 193.
  • Animal Path / Lu Ya — Fellow Six Paths avatar; shares cultivation understanding and coordinates separate exploration assignments 174 175 198.
  • Shukaku — Expedition companion and resource collector; gathers medicine kings to improve Origin Sphere Space 187 191.
  • Mountain Phoenix — Subdued Quasi-Emperor follower and prospective Human Path material 186 191.
  • Great Xia Dragon Sparrow — Demon servant later used as a remotely controlled scout in Undying Mountain 186 193.
  • Lu Li — Zhongzhou ally who shares resources and guides Deva Path into the Ancient Mine of Absolute Beginning 185 198.
  • Shakyamuni — Guards Mount Ling’s faith reserves against further appropriation, but gives the expedition Buddhist medicine 192.
