Shisui had also noticed what Fugaku Uchiha was doing in the distance.
He found it difficult to accept.
After all, this had already affected Konoha's ordinary villagers.
Since Tamaharu Uchiha had suspected Shisui might get softhearted, he had chosen to let Fugaku handle this.
But now, Shisui had no other choice. He could only stall the Anbu and keep them there, so they wouldn't attack his clan members.
Even after being kept under control for so many years, the Uchiha were still formidable.
Most Anbu members were only at the level of Chunin. Special Jonin were qualified to serve as squad leaders.
Jonin could oversee several squads.
And an Elite Jonin like Kakashi was capable of serving as the Anbu's deputy commander.
Among the Uchiha, those who awakened the Sharingan could reach Chunin level after just a few years of training.
A Three Tomoe Sharingan was enough to match a Jonin.
Awakening one was much harder than it was for the Hyuga Clan, but there were still nearly a hundred Uchiha with the Sharingan.
These awakened clan members were the main force responsible for the retreat.
Quite a few Anbu had broken through the defensive line. However, their main goal was to stop the Space-Time Channel from operating, so they hadn't done much to interfere with those escorting ordinary Uchiha away.
They were all heading straight for the Space-Time Channel.
But this position was second only to the front line in terms of defenses, and Tamaharu Uchiha was stationed there.
He had already taken down five Anbu who'd charged at him.
"Fifteen minutes have passed, and more than a hundred clan members still haven't retreated."
"The rain clouds have almost dispersed, too. The Anbu will soon be able to bring their full strength to bear again."

By now, eighty percent of the clan had escaped, as planned.
But Tamaharu wanted more of them to get away!
"Hold out for five more minutes, then retreat!"
Tamaharu made his final decision.
He had ordered this operation, so he wanted to get as many members of the Uchiha Clan out as possible.
Every last one of them.
The Three Tomoe Sharingan in his eyes spun rapidly, transforming into the Mangekyō Sharingan.
Then Tamaharu Uchiha suddenly leaped into the air. That exposed him to everyone, something ordinary ninjas wouldn't do unless they could fly.
BOOM!
A black-and-red Susanoo skeleton covered Tamaharu Uchiha.
Clang! Clatter!
Kunai, shuriken, and other weapons flew toward him, but they were like attacks bouncing off armor. They couldn't hurt him at all.
"Tamaharu has the Mangekyō Sharingan too!"
After Tamaharu Uchiha used Susanoo, every Uchiha who saw it was heartened.
Aside from the few who'd known about the plan in advance, the rest of the clan hadn't known he possessed the Mangekyō Sharingan.
The black-and-red Susanoo raised its right hand and clenched it.
A long spear appeared in its palm.
Crackle! Crackle!
Tamaharu Uchiha infused the spear with Lightning Style.
"Find a way to stop that attack!"
Sarutobi Hiruzen was furious.
This was why he had never gone to war with the Uchiha in the village.
If they fought inside Konoha, the Uchiha wouldn't be the only ones to suffer. Konoha would suffer just as much.
He'd already known that Tamaharu Uchiha and Shisui Uchiha had the Mangekyō. But he'd never imagined that Fugaku Uchiha would awaken it too.
Two Susanoo, along with members of the Military Police Force, were holding off nearly a hundred Anbu.
If they didn't restrain the two Susanoo, and the Hokage Building got blown up again, he wouldn't be able to bear it.
He hadn't expected Tamaharu Uchiha to step forward at a moment like this.
Tamaharu Uchiha paid no heed to what the Konoha ninjas thought.
He had already chosen his target. He'd jumped to make sure he hit it.
"Target locked: the Sarutobi Clan's compound!"
Whoosh!!!
Tamaharu Uchiha was going to make Sarutobi Hiruzen experience what it felt like to have his home destroyed.
The black-and-red spear, wrapped in lightning, broke the sound barrier in an instant and shot away like a true spear of the Thunder God.
To many onlookers, it left a long blue streak across the sky.
"Enma King, transform!"
Sarutobi Hiruzen immediately realized where the attack was headed.
His rage surged. He ordered his Summoned Beast to transform into a staff, hoping to extend it and block the attack.
But it was too slow!
By the time Enma finished transforming, a mushroom cloud had already risen.
All of Konoha shook. The tremors caused several old buildings to collapse.
"Uchiha, I'll kill you!"
"Adamantine Staff, extend!"
Sarutobi Hiruzen was furious!
He pointed the staff at the Susanoo in the air and extended it in an instant, nearly reaching the speed of sound.
In less than a second, it was right in front of Tamaharu Uchiha.
But Tamaharu had no intention of taking the blow head-on. He released Susanoo, and the staff swung through empty air, passing right over his head.
"Damn it! Damn it!"
"Send people to the Sarutobi Clan's compound to help with the rescue!"
When Sarutobi Hiruzen saw that he'd missed, his eyes nearly turned into Sharingan, as if they were about to bleed.
Still, he forced himself to stay calm and quickly relayed the order through Inoichi Yamanaka's mental link.
Even if they could save just one person, they had to. The Sarutobi Clan couldn't be wiped out!
"Yes!"
Inoichi Yamanaka's face had gone ashen.
His mental reach, aided by the barrier, covered almost all of Konoha.
Naturally, he'd seen the state of the Sarutobi Clan's compound.

Tamaharu Uchiha landed and let out a sharp, piercing whistle.
Even amid the constant explosions, it was clearly audible.
It was the signal to retreat. They had five minutes.
When Fugaku Uchiha heard it, he was relieved.
Many of his subordinates were already injured, and they couldn't hold out much longer. They'd fallen back more than a hundred meters, and the retreat point was less than a thousand meters away.
The brutal fighting had left him no time to keep track of how much longer they had to hold out. Hearing the signal lifted his spirits.
"You retreat. I'll cover you!"
Shisui Uchiha had heard the signal too, and a smile appeared on his face.
He didn't want the two sides to keep fighting, either. It would only bring more suffering.
He immediately told the Uchiha around him to retreat.
"Anyone below Jonin level, retreat!"
At the same time, Tamaharu Uchiha gave the order at the Portal.
The more people they left behind, the more trouble it would cause. There was no need for that now. They only had to hold this entrance, and they didn't need so many people!
