Background / History

Shisui initially sought a peaceful resolution between Konoha and the Uchiha. While serving as Konoha's source within the clan, he believed the Third Hokage would mediate rather than permit open conflict. Tamaharu exposed his role and argued that Konoha was exploiting Shisui's desire for peace while allowing Danzō to intensify hostility toward the Uchiha. 2

Faced with Tamaharu and Fugaku's Mangekyō Sharingan, Shisui chose the clan over Konoha after being shown a viable route to another world. To prove his commitment, he removed his left Sharingan and placed it in Tamaharu's custody until the evacuation succeeded. 3

During the escape from Konoha, Shisui held off Root and Anbu forces to cover the clan's retreat. His refusal to kill Konoha ninja greatly worsened his exhaustion, leaving him injured and unable to sustain more than the skeletal form of his green Susanoo. Danzō's attempt to seize his remaining Mangekyō finally convinced Shisui that he had trusted the wrong people. 12

After recovering in the new world and receiving his left Mangekyō back, Shisui admitted that his misplaced faith in Konoha had contributed to the Uchiha's plight. He committed himself to protecting and rebuilding the clan. 16

Appearance

Shisui is most often identified by his blood-red Sharingan and the extreme speed associated with his Body Flicker Technique.

Personality

Shisui began as a conciliatory idealist who wanted the Uchiha and Konoha to coexist. He preferred solutions in which no one had to die, making him reluctant to accept the necessity of the clan's escape or to kill pursuing Konoha shinobi. 2 3 12

Danzō's betrayal fundamentally changed him. Shisui became colder and more decisive toward those who threatened the Uchiha, personally claiming responsibility for confronting Danzō when the clan returned to Konoha. 97 102

Despite this change, he remains deeply loyal to his fellow clansmen. He regards Itachi as a younger brother, seeks strength so he will not have to rely on Itachi in a crisis, and accepts administrative and financial responsibilities when Tamaharu is absent. 35 77

Shisui's decision to abandon Konoha's side is essential to the Uchiha's escape. He sacrifices his left eye to earn Tamaharu's trust, serves as a rear guard during the evacuation, and is severely injured while buying time for the clan to cross into another world. 3 12 16

Early Sea Operations

After the relocation, Shisui assists in assessing CP9 as combat benchmarks, acts as battlefield support for younger Uchiha, and accepts responsibility for hunting pirates and raising funds for the clan. 20 21 35
