Background / History

The Uchiha were one of Konoha's founding power blocs alongside the Senju and Hyuga. By the period before their flight, they had become increasingly isolated following the Nine-Tails Incident: villagers openly insulted Military Police members, missions were restricted, and the clan believed Konoha's leadership intended to reduce them as it had the Senju. 1 2 4

Uchiha Tamaharu concluded that coexistence with Konoha was impossible unless the village leadership changed completely or an Uchiha became Hokage. With Fugaku and Shisui's support, the clan prepared a secret evacuation through Tamaharu's Mangekyō portal to another world. Itachi, regarded as an unstable double agent, was sealed and sent through first to confirm the destination's safety. 1 6

Konoha discovered the plan and ordered the Uchiha's annihilation. The clan fought a delaying battle while civilians and noncombatants passed through the space-time channel. Eighteen Uchiha died during the operation, but the clan escaped and settled on an isolated island in the new world. 9 11 15 16

Soon afterward, Fugaku formally transferred the clan head position to Tamaharu. Under his leadership, the Uchiha pursued trade, intelligence gathering, combat training, bloodline research, and adaptation to the power systems of other worlds. 16 17 35 43

The clan later returned to Konoha with overwhelming force. After defeating the village's resistance, it dissolved Konohagakure and established the Land of Konoha under new laws, including freer civilian life, taxation, and merit-based access to ninjutsu below B-rank. 97 103
