"Danzo, you targeted Shisui's Mangekyō Sharingan because you wanted to control the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki!"

"You secretly colluded with Orochimaru and helped him conduct human experiments, then took the First Hokage's cells to strengthen yourself. Only a body like that could withstand the power of the Sharingan."

"Your goal was to control the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki and become the new Hokage, wasn't it?"

Before Kakashi's side could make a move, Uchiha Tamaharu sent a current surging from beneath his feet, forcing the swamp back, and shouted.

Uchiha Tamaharu had almost said that Danzo, that old schemer, had also been involved in Kakashi's father's death.

The moment Sarutobi Hiruzen read his lips, he was seized with panic.

A deafening bolt of lightning dropped from the sky and struck Sarutobi Hiruzen head-on.

Many people looked up and realized that a huge mass of rain clouds had appeared overhead at some point.

The clouds had formed when Konoha's ninjas used Water Release to help put out the fires. They were mainly meant to deal with Amaterasu and the raging flames inside the Konoha clan district.

"Third!"

The others cried out.

"Cough, cough!"

But they soon breathed a sigh of relief when they saw Sarutobi Hiruzen slowly emerge from the ground nearby, coughing.

The one struck by lightning had only been an Earth Clone.

"Boom!"

But another bolt of lightning came down immediately.

Sarutobi Hiruzen was old, but his Hand Seals were still quick.

The lightning was faster!

This time, it caught him in the blast. His entire left leg was badly burned.

"There are nine strikes in all. Take your time and enjoy them!"

With tears of blood streaming from his eyes, Uchiha Tamaharu disappeared into the Portal.

Susanoo vanished, and the Portal slowly shrank after it.

The bolts of lightning in the sky continued to lock onto Sarutobi Hiruzen and strike.

The thunderous barrage lasted for about a minute before it finally ended.

Seven or eight Anbu lay nearby, their bodies charred black.

They had sacrificed themselves trying to save Sarutobi Hiruzen.

Sarutobi Hiruzen's entire left leg had turned black. A medic was using the Mystical Palm Technique with all their might, trying to save it.

He hadn't left, but he had people of his own out there.

No clan had a better way to monitor things from a distance than the Hyuga. He learned easily of the words Uchiha Tamaharu had left behind before departing.

But Konoha was mostly consumed by panic.

The Uchiha hadn't deliberately targeted civilians, but the attacks by Uchiha Fugaku and Uchiha Tamaharu had still caused considerable damage.

Amaterasu had been especially troublesome. It took a great deal of manpower to contain the fire, and they only managed it after discovering that Sealing Jutsu could work on the inextinguishable flames.

Uchiha Tamaharu's Divine Punishment had also caused considerable destruction, but once Wind Style scattered the clouds, there was no further danger.

Uchiha Tamaharu felt no guilt about any of it!

The Uchiha Clan hadn't bullied ordinary people. They had merely acted fairly, yet those ordinary people had treated them with hostility, shattering the Uchiha's last defenses.

Were these really the people they were supposed to protect?

So Uchiha Tamaharu felt no pressure at all about the damage that had reached ordinary people.

If you all think we're the bad guys, then fine—we'll be the bad guys!

News of the Uchiha's defection spread throughout the Shinobi World a week later.

Apart from Kirigakure, the other three great villages all searched for the Uchiha Clan. They wanted to recruit them, but more than anything, just like Konoha, they wanted to swallow the Uchiha whole.
