Background and History

Academy years

Kurenai meets Hikawa after he awakens and brings him to Yuhi Shinko, her father. When Shinko agrees to house and teach Hikawa under the Hokage's orders, Kurenai initially compares his genjutsu aptitude to her own, then accepts him as a little brother. 1 2

At the Ninja Academy, she supports Hikawa with her personal study notes and teaches him kunai throwing. Her desire to remain the “big sister” drives an early rivalry with him, especially after his rapid progress in chakra control and genjutsu. 3 4 6 11
