After putting away the Water Severing Wave scroll, Sasuke used Scorch Release to burn all the things he had no use for!
As far as Sasuke was concerned, more jutsu didn't necessarily mean better. He thought it was enough to know the ones he needed. After all, even if you mastered a ton of jutsu, they were useless in the end without a cheat ability. Take Copy Ninja Kakashi, for example. Without Obito's Mangekyō Sharingan, who knew how many times he would have died?
Or Naruto, who started going wild with nothing but a jutsu for making balls. That was all because he had the Nine-Tails as a cheat ability.
After burning the jutsu scrolls, Sasuke began studying the so-called Water Severing Wave. Since he had already maxed out his Water Release Nature Transformation, it took him only half an hour to learn the jutsu.
Once the jutsu appeared on the Water Release panel, Sasuke immediately used General Proficiency to max it out.
With that taken care of, Sasuke looked toward the fusion panel. After all, he had another special fusion opportunity now, so of course he was going to put it to use!
He selected Lightning Release and Water Release, then spent another special fusion opportunity to create Storm Release.
Lightning crackled all around Sasuke. Unlike ordinary lightning, the bolts surrounding him flowed rapidly over his skin like water.
Storm Release—the flowing lightning—possessed the devastating power of Lightning Release and the ease of control of Water Release. It was terrifyingly powerful in both attack and defense.
After the blue current vanished, Sasuke looked at the newly appeared Storm Release panel with a strange expression. Once he had poured all his remaining General Proficiency into it, he went back to bed.
Today's gains had been more than satisfying. He had to spend the next month hunting, so he might as well get a good rest!
Under Sasuke's relentless hunting, Third Hokage Hiruzen Sarutobi was thoroughly rattled. He sent one of his subordinates to investigate what was happening in the back hills. To his horror, the captain never came back.
There was no need to guess what had happened to the Anbu Captain: Sasuke had killed him. Even with the strength of an elite Jonin, the captain couldn't survive long against Sasuke, who had Illusion at his disposal.
After the Anbu Captain's death, Hiruzen Sarutobi learned his lesson and had Root take over the back hills. That was a considerable loss for Sasuke, since most Root members were Chunin, which greatly reduced the amount of General Proficiency he could earn!
Sasuke wasn't the least bit unhappy about it, though. Why? Because each Root squad had more members than an Anbu squad. If they lacked quality, they made up for it with quantity, so in the end, Sasuke hadn't lost much.
Compared with Sasuke's having come out ahead, Danzo, Root's designated scapegoat, felt as if his entire stockpile was about to be wiped out.
But there was nothing Danzo could do. They still had no leads on the culprit. Even if he wanted to settle the score, he didn't know who to go after!
Hiruzen Sarutobi and Shimura Danzō felt the same way about the matter. They had no information at all—not only were there no clues, but they didn't even have the bodies of the Anbu and Root members. The two men were beside themselves with frustration!

While Third Hokage Hiruzen Sarutobi and Danzo fretted over what was happening in Konoha's back hills, Sasuke—the one responsible for the whole mess—was staring intently at the jutsu he had just created through fusion.
Since Sasuke had learned very few Wind Release jutsu, he had done something rather extravagant: he fused every Fire Release jutsu he knew except Gōkakyū, then fused the result with a Wind Release jutsu. The results were pretty good, to say the least.
The panel before Sasuke showed the result of fusing that newly created jutsu with the Ryūka-based Scorch Release he had created earlier. Though it hadn't reached the so-called proficiency cap of ten thousand, it had still set a new record.
Reaching ten thousand was only a matter of time. After Sasuke defected from Konoha, he could just find a Wind Release jutsu and fuse it with Gōkakyū to get his second super jutsu!
Sasuke's month-long vacation came to an end amid his hunting. He felt there was nothing more to gain from the back hills, but he still had debts to collect. After all, the Konoha Military Police Force was made up of Sarutobi Clan members!
They were a perfect target for collecting what he was owed, since they had taken the Uchiha's place. Of course, that was just an excuse. What Sasuke really wanted was all that shiny General Proficiency!
During the month of slaughter, Sasuke had upgraded everything on his panel that could be improved, including Hand Seals.
To his surprise, one-handed seals were followed by eye seals. Sasuke was caught completely off guard. Fortunately, he could use General Proficiency to max them out directly. Otherwise, he suspected he might go blind while training his eyes to form seals, before he even awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan.
Sasuke could now clap his hands and make whatever he wanted appear. But to keep this special ability from being exposed, he figured he still needed to use Hand Seals. That wasn't much trouble, since for now, the only jutsu he needed them for was Gōkakyū.
As for Water Release Ninjutsu, Sasuke didn't want to reveal that he knew it just yet. Lightning Release was bound to be exposed sooner or later, since he wanted to learn Kakashi's Chidori and Lightning Blade, then develop Chidori Current.
Sasuke could develop new jutsu using what he remembered from his previous life, but that would expose his true strength. That wouldn't help his plans at all. He still wanted to give the Third Hokage a huge surprise!
Now, aside from the Sharingan, Sasuke also possessed Scorch Release and Storm Release. But he still wanted to create Ice Release.
Of course, he would have to put off creating Ice Release for now. Even without reaching Kage Level, Sasuke was already as strong as an elite Jonin. If he used his last special fusion opportunity, he would definitely reach Kage Level in combat strength—but his Chakra reserves were another matter. Sasuke had no idea which Kage's Chakra reserves the system meant. If it meant Senju Hashirama, things could get out of hand!
So, to make sure he could evolve to the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan soon after awakening the Mangekyō Sharingan, Sasuke figured it would be best to save that final special fusion opportunity.
