"Hey, Sasuke, are you giving up already?" Naruto looked at him with disdain when he saw Sasuke getting ready to leave. After all, just moments ago, he had sworn to himself that Sasuke would be his lifelong rival!

Now Sasuke was giving up so quickly. Naruto couldn't help feeling that the rival he'd chosen wasn't all that impressive.

If Sasuke had known what Naruto was thinking, he would have laughed. Judging by their recent spar, Sasuke was sure that if he went all out, the odds wouldn't be even. It would probably be nine to one—nine for Sasuke, one for Kakashi!

And that was without counting the Rasengan he'd just learned. If he added the Rasengan, Sasuke figured that Flying Thunder God combined with Rasengan should be enough to take Kakashi out instantly—assuming, of course, that Kakashi didn't use the power of his Mangekyō Sharingan, Kamui.

Obito's eye had a pretty broken ability, and Sasuke couldn't guarantee he'd avoid it every time. Still, Kakashi probably couldn't use his Mangekyō Sharingan's power yet... probably!

"Giving up? Watch closely. This is what talent looks like!" In response to Naruto's doubt, Sasuke turned his head and looked at him scornfully. Then he slowly formed a Rasengan in his right hand!

The moment the pale blue Rasengan appeared, an overwhelming pressure swept over Naruto. Of course, that pressure wasn't coming from Sasuke or the Rasengan in his hand. Sasuke had mastered the Rasengan perfectly, just as Kakashi had said, and wouldn't expose himself by letting it get out of control.

What made Naruto feel pressured was Sasuke's astonishing talent. Naruto hadn't even managed to gather Chakra in his palm, while Sasuke had already mastered the Rasengan completely. It filled Naruto with helplessness. Was he really worthy of being Sasuke's rival?

It wasn't just Naruto. Sakura, who had been training hard nearby, began to wonder whether she could really become a ninja after seeing the Rasengan in Sasuke's hand.

The three people in the Hokage's office were just as stunned. Kakashi, Asuma, and Kurenai had come to report on the new students who'd passed the assessment. Since Kakashi had been so full of praise for Sasuke, Sarutobi Hiruzen, as Hokage, had wanted to see how Team 7 was training.

Then they witnessed an unbelievable sight. The moment they saw the Rasengan in Sasuke's hand, they could hardly believe their eyes. Was this really a new student? They'd heard that Uchiha Sasuke was incredibly talented, but this went beyond talent. He was a monster!

"Truly incredible!" Sarutobi Hiruzen exclaimed as he watched the Rasengan in Sasuke's hand. But he didn't give it much thought, since Sasuke had already been indoctrinated with the Will of Fire.

"Looks like you've taken on quite the student, Kakashi!" Seeing his father's assessment of Sasuke, Asuma patted the still-dazed Kakashi on the shoulder and slowly walked away. It seemed Team 10 would need extra training, or they'd fall too far behind.

"Remember to treat us!" Kurenai said with a laugh as she looked at Kakashi, who still hadn't recovered. Then she left, too. She needed to train her own team, or they'd end up falling far behind!

"All right," Kakashi replied with a helpless nod at Kurenai's teasing. How was he supposed to train Sasuke now? What a headache. Having a student with terrifying talent was a problem in its own right!

"The road ahead is long, Kakashi. This genius is in your hands!" Sarutobi Hiruzen teased Kakashi one last time, then cut off his observation of Team 7.

"He's truly terrifyingly talented! Uchiha Sasuke... If he awakens his Sharingan, he'll probably surpass me before long!"

After leaving the office, Kakashi gazed into the distance and murmured to himself. Then he pulled out Icha Icha Paradise and began reading with relish. With Sasuke's intelligence, he would surely find a way to gradually incorporate Nature Transformation into the Rasengan. Thinking this, Kakashi ambled home.

After Kakashi left, Sarutobi Hiruzen looked at the portrait of Namikaze Minato in the Hokage's office, his expression turning strange. Flying Thunder God combined with Rasengan... Wasn't that Minato's signature combination?

"Minato, someone will carry on your will." With a quiet sigh, Sarutobi Hiruzen reopened the view on his crystal ball, though this time he wasn't checking on Team 7.

At the training ground, after demonstrating his Rasengan to the other two, Sasuke left them with a final piece of advice and walked away.

"The essence of this jutsu lies in Shape Transformation and controlling the force. Keep working at it, you two."

Hearing Sasuke's words, Sakura lowered her head and thought them over. Naruto, on the other hand, looked completely lost. What was he talking about? He didn't understand a word!

After returning home, Sasuke formed his Rasengan again and began thinking. Wind Style: Rasenshuriken was out of the question for now. If he managed to infuse Nature Transformation into the Rasengan so quickly, Sarutobi Hiruzen would probably start getting nervous.

"Big Ball Rasengan? Uh... I'm short on Chakra. Forget it!" Remembering the Rasengan Naruto developed further in the original story, Sasuke gave up on the idea. He only had so much Chakra, not an absurd amount. He'd better not rely on winning through sheer volume of Chakra.

As he continued examining the Rasengan in his hand, Sasuke noticed that its Chakra spiraled to the left. That gave him an idea.

He dispelled the Rasengan and began channeling Chakra through his body again, this time trying to make it spiral to the right.

Since Sasuke had already perfected the Rasengan, forming one that spun to the right didn't take long.

A Rasengan tinged with green slowly appeared before Sasuke. Seeing its color, he felt awkward. Why did it have to be the color of forgiveness?!

As Sasuke was still wondering why it was green, a new general-purpose jutsu appeared before him.

"Damn! You can do that too?" Seeing the panel, Sasuke felt a rush of excitement. Talk about getting something without even trying!

The system had actually recognized the left- and right-spinning Rasengan as two separate jutsu. Wasn't that a huge win?

He knew Rasengan with similar natures could undergo a qualitative change! That was the Taiji Rasengan from the movie, which the Fourth Hokage had called the most powerful Rasengan!
