After seeing Sasuke's two-tomoe Sharingan, Kakashi immediately understood what had happened. Sasuke had evolved his Sharingan at the brink of death, and riding that boost, had successfully defeated his opponent.
"I underestimated you. But you should be at the end of your rope now, shouldn't you? Go apologize to Haku in heaven!"
Kakashi could think of it, and so could Zabuza. After all, practically the entire shinobi world knew that the Sharingan could evolve. Once he realized that his prized "tool" had truly been killed by this brat, Zabuza was utterly enraged.

Standing nearby, Kakashi saw Zabuza rushing toward Sasuke and hurriedly shouted a warning before raising his kunai and moving to intercept Zabuza.
Sasuke remained completely calm as Zabuza charged him. With a casual flick of his hand, he threw out a Shadow Clone kunai. His Sharingan slowly activated, and arcs of electricity gradually gathered in his right hand.
"What is this?"
Seeing Sasuke throw a kunai at him, Zabuza's heart skipped a beat and he calmed down somewhat. Last time, this brat had used this move to fly straight over. At first, Zabuza had thought it was the Flying Thunder God, but after analyzing it, he had discovered the key to the technique: Shadow Clones.
With that thought, Zabuza swiftly raised the Kubikiribōchō and slashed at the kunai.

The Kubikiribōchō struck Sasuke's kunai, and the kunai immediately turned into a puff of white smoke. Seeing this, Zabuza smiled in relief. Sure enough, it was a kunai transformed from a Shadow Clone.
