"Actually, there's another, more important reason I asked you out today."
"What?"
Kiyotaka looked at Kei and asked.
"My favorite movie just came out, and I don't have anyone to watch it with."
"..."
Kiyotaka had been wrong. He shouldn't have expected Kei to have anything serious to talk about.
"Will you come watch it with me?"
Kei shook his arm as she asked.
"Sigh. We're already out, so I guess I can put up with a little more."
Looking at the hopeful expression on Kei's face, Kiyotaka found he couldn't bring himself to refuse.
The moment he agreed, Kei jumped up from her seat in the lounge and eagerly dragged him toward the movie theater.
It was called a movie theater, but Kiyotaka thought "private screening room" was more apt. Watching couples walk into the booths one after another gave him that impression.
"Come on, I've already bought the tickets. It's room 108."
The room was small and simply furnished: a huge screen, a comfortable sofa, and snacks and drinks on the table.
As soon as the two of them entered, the movie was ready to begin. Kei glanced around, then sat down on the sofa. She looked at Kiyotaka, who was still standing blankly by the door, and said,
"What are you still standing there for? Come sit down!"
Kiyotaka walked over and sat on the sofa. It wasn't very wide, so most of their arms were pressed together, but neither of them seemed to mind.
"Just so I know, can I sleep later?"
Kiyotaka asked without much hope.
"What do you think?"
As expected, there was no chance.
The movie began. Kiyotaka glanced at the screen. It was a clichéd romance.
He couldn't get interested in a movie like that, and before long he was growing drowsy.
Kei was engrossed in the movie when she suddenly felt a weight on her shoulder. She turned to look and found that Kiyotaka had fallen asleep.
In the light cast by the movie, Kei studied Kiyotaka closely. His sleeping expression was peaceful, completely unlike his usual deadpan face.
Kiyotaka's breathing was steady, and the warm air he exhaled brushed against Kei's neck, making it tickle.
He looks pretty handsome like this. Why did he used to be so invisible, like I'd never even seen him?
Looking at Kiyotaka's sleeping profile, Kei murmured to herself.
Ever since the Manabe incident, Kiyotaka had gradually become a bigger part of Kei's life. Especially when he'd said he would protect her. At the time, she'd impulsively promised to give him her body and soul, but deep down, she'd still felt somewhat uncomfortable about it.
But that feeling had gradually faded as she spent more time with Kiyotaka. Now, Kei might really be willing to do whatever he asked of her.
Looking at Kiyotaka's slightly pale lips, Kei asked softly,
"Can I kiss you?"
Then Kei laughed at herself and said,
"What am I saying? He's asleep. Mm!"
Kei's eyes flew wide open, and her body stiffened. Kiyotaka, who should have been fast asleep, showed no trace of drowsiness in his eyes—and he was ravaging her mouth.
But little by little, Kei closed her eyes and wrapped her arms around Kiyotaka's waist, beginning to respond to him. Her tongue was nimble, winding around his like a snake as she kissed him.
Kei's hands wandered over Kiyotaka's body. To her surprise, beneath his seemingly frail exterior, his body was unexpectedly firm, with lean muscles that seemed full of explosive power.
"Mm~"
At some point, Kiyotaka's hands had slipped inside Kei's clothes and crept up to her breasts. Feeling the scorching heat of his hands, Kei couldn't help letting out a soft moan.
They broke apart briefly, their tongues still connected by a thin strand of saliva. After gulping down a breath of fresh air, Kei responded to Kiyotaka even more passionately.
For a moment, the wet sounds of their kisses nearly drowned out the movie.
After who knew how long, Kiyotaka let Kei go and allowed her to collapse against him. She accidentally brushed against something hard and immediately realized what it was. Her face flushed crimson, all the way to her ears.
"Kiyotaka... are you uncomfortable?"
Kei asked in a soft, hesitant voice. She didn't dare look up at him, knowing how strange her face must look.
"What do you think?"
Kiyotaka asked calmly.
"I... I can help you."
Kei gathered her courage and said it.
But Kiyotaka didn't make another sound. He simply sat there, breathing evenly.
Without an answer, Kei wrestled with herself for a long time. At last, she slowly reached toward the place she had never touched before.
As the zipper was slowly pulled down, what had been concealed beneath was gradually revealed in all its glory.
"Wh... how..."
Kei exclaimed in astonishment, startled by what she saw.
Then Kei parted her red lips and bent down, working diligently.
Kei was inexperienced, and her teeth occasionally bumped against him, but her tongue was especially nimble. The way it wound and darted around brought Kiyotaka a different kind of pleasure.
Skill came with practice. Though Kei had lost her earlier battles, she instinctively launched a new assault. The clever teasing of her tongue combined with her vigorous movements until, in the end, Kiyotaka pressed down on her head and climaxed in a dazzling burst.
Kei felt Kiyotaka suddenly press her down. Then a scorching heat, like molten lava, quickly filled her mouth.
When she lifted her head, she was about to spit it out.
"Swallow."
Kiyotaka seemed to read her thoughts and quietly told her what to do.
Kei froze, then swallowed without further hesitation, taking in every drop of that scorching liquid.
Kei wiped the residue from around her mouth and rubbed her stiff jaw as she said,
"Is this really that tiring?"
The day passed in a flash. After what had happened in the booth, Kei's manner toward Kiyotaka had grown more affectionate. When they finally parted, Kiyotaka watched Kei turn back to wave at him and murmured,
"It's still not enough..."
Chapter 58: The Sports Festival—Arisu Sakayanagi Makes Her Entrance!
The few days of vacation passed in the blink of an eye, and the students of Class D returned to school life.
"Here's some information about the sports festival. Choose the events you're good at and fill out the form yourselves. Once everything's been consolidated, hand it in to me. Also, we'll be adding extra physical education classes this month to prepare for the sports festival. I'll give you the new timetable later."
During the class meeting, their homeroom teacher, Chabashira, handed out some information and addressed the class.
When they heard that there would be a sports festival even in the blazing summer heat, most of the class groaned. Only Sudō excitedly jumped to his feet.
"Ms. Chabashira, may I ask whether the sports festival counts as one of the 'special exams'?"
Hirata, now the representative of Class D, looked at Chabashira as he asked.
Chabashira propped both hands on the lectern and replied absently,
"How you interpret it is up to you. But no matter what the outcome is, it will have a huge impact on your class."
Just when everyone thought Chabashira would give them a definite answer, she gave them only an ambiguous response.
That made the students who disliked sports even more miserable. At an ordinary school, it might not have mattered, but here, every little thing affected their class points, which in turn directly affected their lives. The consequences were so interconnected that they didn't even dare slack off.
"Kiyotaka, look at this."
While everyone was chattering away, Horikita had been studying the information on her own. When she noticed a certain detail, she couldn't help calling Kiyotaka over.
Hearing Horikita call him, Kiyotaka listlessly raised his head and glanced at her. When he saw her pointing at the information, he looked it over. After finding the section she meant, he smiled and said,
"So it's a team competition. We've been placed in the red group with Class A, while Classes B and C are in the white group? Doesn't that mean you might get a chance to see your brother?"
"Kiyotaka!"
Horikita retorted, her voice tinged with annoyance and a hint of embarrassment.
Kiyotaka immediately raised both hands in surrender.
Chabashira seemed to be paying close attention to Kiyotaka. As soon as he and Horikita finished talking, she spoke up.
"I'm sure some of you noticed when you read the information carefully. For this sports festival, you'll be divided into red and white teams. Class D will be on the red team with Class A. Now listen carefully to what comes next. I won't repeat myself."
Chabashira tapped the lectern.
"All events will be scored on a points system. In individual events, the top four places will earn 15, 12, 10, and 8 points respectively. Starting with fifth place, each lower place will lose one additional point. Team events will count triple the points of individual events.
"Once the red and white teams' scores have been added up, every class on the losing team will have 100 class points deducted equally. Within each team, the class that ranks first will earn 50 class points. Second place will receive no change, while the third- and fourth-place classes will lose 50 and 100 class points respectively."
"Teacher, why are you only talking about losing points? Aren't there any ways to earn them?"
Kei raised her hand and asked.
"There aren't. And pay attention: even if the red team wins, if Class D is the one dragging the team down, you'll still lose 100 class points. The key to this sports festival is giving it your all."
For the students who already disliked sports, Chabashira's words only made matters worse. They couldn't gain anything, and one mistake could cost them points.
"But there is a benefit for individuals who place."
Chabashira's words immediately quieted the class.
"First place gets either 5,000 personal points or three points added to their exam score. Second place gets 3,000 points or two exam points, and third place gets 1,000 points or one exam point."
"Are those the points I think they are?"
Ike jumped to his feet and asked excitedly.
"Yes," Chabashira replied with a helpless shake of her head.
"Awesome!"
Even that little bit of good news amid all the bad was enough to make the class cheer.
People really did have to learn to make the best of a bad situation.
The thought came to Kiyotaka unbidden.
"Ms. Chabashira, you left something out."
Kiyotaka hadn't wanted to speak up, but this detail was important. If they overlooked it, Class D might lose any chance of moving up.
A faint, hard-to-detect smile tugged at Chabashira's lips.
At her words, the students of Class D hurried to look over the information too.
"What?! The ten students who finish last will lose ten points on the next exam?"
Ike stared at the bottom of the page and cried out in disbelief.
That one sentence immediately discouraged many students with poor grades who'd hoped to take a chance. Their grades were already bad; if they lost ten more points, they'd be guaranteed to fail.
"I'll leave the sign-up sheet here. Choose the people you think are best suited and hand it to me. I'll submit it to the school. Next period, the classes will meet each other, so don't be late. That's all."
Chabashira didn't give them a chance to ask questions. She simply left.
Before long, it was time for the entire year to gather.
The gathering was hosted by a third-year student from Class A named Tonomaki. Horikita felt relieved when she saw that it wasn't her brother hosting, but she was also a little disappointed.
"If you like your brother so much, why don't you go see him yourself?"
Kiyotaka asked from beside her.
"His excellence is what I've always tried to catch up to, but I've never managed it. I don't have the courage."
Horikita bit her lip as she spoke.
"What if you found someone even better than him?"
