Joe shifted his gaze in shock between Wells and the man in yellow, concluding that Wells wasn't the killer. This was the conclusion Wells had hoped for; with Reverse-Flash appearing, how could Joe's doubts not be dispelled?
Wells feigned confusion as he looked at Joe, then felt Joe's gaze behind him.
Just as Wells was about to turn his head to see what was behind him, causing Joe such shock.
Joe saw the man in yellow raise his blurred left hand and strike towards Wells's head.
Wells, along with his wheelchair, was immediately knocked under the table, his eyes closed as he lost consciousness.
"NO…"
Joe, seeing the man in yellow's actions, immediately drew his pistol, but didn't have time to aim it at the blurred yellow figure.
The entire room was suddenly filled with red electrical arcs, fragile glasses fell to the ground, shattering with a crisp sound.
Documents flew everywhere.
Gusts of wind blew against Joe's face, leaving him bewildered. He nervously and fearfully pointed his pistol in all directions, unable to aim at the target.
It was too fast; the entire room was filled with red electrical arcs and flying documents, with no sign of the person.
Cold sweat trickled down Joe's forehead.
The hand holding the pistol suddenly vanished, the gun thrown to the ground.
A blurred face instantly appeared before him, close to his own.
Joe's eyes narrowed. Fear surged from the depths of his heart, causing his breathing to quicken, but he tightly suppressed it, causing his body to tremble slightly, cold sweat drenching his back.
"You... looking for me?"
A magnetic voice emanated from the blurred face, chilling.
Following this, a small camera was smashed onto the tabletop, causing the table to jolt.
It was the camera Joe had secretly placed in a corner to record Wells's behavior and expressions during their conversation, to observe later. Now, the man in yellow had found it and smashed it onto the table.
"It was you, you killed Barry's mother! The man in yellow Barry talked about, it's you!"
Joe gasped rapidly, speaking with a tremor. He tried desperately to quell his body's shaking, but it was useless; the more he suppressed it, the stiffer he felt.
"Keep investigating... and she dies!"
The man in yellow transformed into red electrical arcs, filling the room again. Then, the small camera on the table disappeared, and the red electrical arcs rushed out the door, vanishing without a trace.
Joe, drenched in sweat, turned to look at the blackboard. On the world map, a fruit knife was plunged into a photograph of Iris.
After a while, Joe calmed himself down. He pulled the fruit knife from the blackboard, gazed fondly at Iris's photo, and put it in his pocket.
He picked up his pistol and righted Dr. Wells in his wheelchair.
With a slight shake, Wells woke up with a look of confusion.
"What happened?"
"Dr. Wells, I'm sorry, I misunderstood."
STAR Labs.
Cisco called into the microphone, "Lin Li, Barry has located a meta-human's whereabouts. You need to come to the control room lobby."
Lin Li, who was in the underground training room, heard this and hurried to the control room.
As he entered, he heard Barry's pained groans.
Barry, with a bruised and swollen face and a black eye, lay on the hospital bed.
Caitlin was applying medicine to him, saying with great displeasure, "How many more injuries are you going to get? Run if you can't beat them. You're so fast, no one can catch you."
"I didn't want to! I was surrounded in an instant! Someone grabbed my arm, someone grabbed my leg, I was surrounded by over a dozen people punching and kicking me. It was incredibly difficult to break free."
Barry explained with a pained groan. There were just too many opponents, and they kept increasing, surrounding him in multiple layers. He had no room to maneuver.
Can't this world have more good people? If they have power, must they commit crimes?
Barry wailed, "Another unfriendly meta-human..."
Cisco, wiping down the Flash suit, said indignantly, "Hey, you got blood all over my Flash suit. Although it's red and not very noticeable, it's disgusting."
Barry rolled his eyes. "I'm sorry, the situation was intense. I couldn't hold a towel to keep the suit clean while fighting. Some of the blood might have been the enemy's, I did land a few hits on him."
"Barry, it looks like you need some combat training so you can fight a thousand opponents," Lin Li said.
"Cisco, collect some blood and run a DNA check. See if we can find a match in the Central City records," Barry said. "I know what he looks like. During the fight, I pulled off a few of their hoods, and they were all identical people, identical meta-humans. Their ability is self-splitting."
Cisco nodded approvingly, "Cool, Captain Clone..."
Everyone fell silent and looked at Cisco.
"What? You don't like that name? Okay, I'll think of another one."
Then, the discussion about the meta-human resumed.
Caitlin asked, "Why don't you notify Lin Li immediately? Together, you can definitely defeat this meta-human."
Barry replied, "I think I can handle him myself."
Silence fell once more...
Barry continued, speaking with resignation, "Alright, I thought it was just a regular armed criminal. I didn't expect him to suddenly split. I was startled when I caught up to him."
"Besides, by the time Lin Li arrived after being notified, the meta-human would have already escaped."
Lin Li helplessly recalled the last time with the Weather Wizard. He had waited through five red lights on the road, and by the time he arrived, he could only pick Barry up to treat him, unable to do anything else.
The battle had come and gone too quickly. He could only clean up the aftermath.
"It seems I need a mode of transportation so I can reach the scene in a timely manner."
At this moment, Cisco had finished wiping the blood off the Flash suit and collected a sample for testing.
Cisco nodded affirmatively and said, "You're right, Lightning Rider."
"What..."
Everyone fell silent again at Cisco's sudden naming, looking at him with questioning eyes.
"Lin Li, I've changed your hero name to Lightning Rider. I believe you won't object, regret it, and will highly approve."
Cisco said confidently.
"Lin Li, you two, come with me. I have something to show you."
Cisco led the way out of the control room lobby. Lin Li, showing great interest, followed. The momentum made it clear Cisco had invented something new.
Barry quickly jumped off the hospital bed and eagerly chased after the two. This was obviously something very interesting, and whatever Cisco had invented was not to be missed.
"Hey, Barry, your injury..."
"It's fine, Caitlin. My recovery ability is very strong. Look, I can already run and jump."
After saying goodbye to Caitlin, Cisco led Lin Li and Barry to the garage.
A black curtain concealed a motorcycle, revealing its silhouette.
