"Source Star?" Su You muttered. The name seemed a little familiar!
Su You thought back to his memories from his previous life, and his expression suddenly changed. Could it be that Source Star?
"During the era of the first candidate to inherit the Star Tower, Earth was called the Shan Hai Realm. In the era of the second candidate, Earth's name was Source Star. Could that really be a coincidence?"
"No, it probably isn't. More than 800,000 eras ago, Luo Feng and the Star Tower's second candidate were separated by 8.2 billion years. The timing matches, too. Could this little girl be an Earthling from the era of the Star Tower's second candidate?"
"Hmm?" Little You Meng heard Su You muttering and stared at him. "You know about Source Star?"
Su You quickly thought of an answer and hurriedly said, "That name appears in a lot of novels and movies on Earth. It means 'the star of origin'!"
"Humph, so it's just something fictional!"
You Meng looked a little disdainful as she continued:
"Our Source Star was once a major force in the universe. We occupied a vast star domain containing more than 100,000 galaxies, independent of the Ganwu Universe Country. Even the Ganwu Universe Master had no authority over us."
"Do you know about the Ganwu Universe Country? It's a high-level civilization in the universe, with more than 13,000 star domains and over 100 million galaxies under its jurisdiction. It's the highest-ranking Universe Country among the Cosmic Humans. My father's status would have ranked among the highest within the Ganwu Universe Country."
"Your father?"
You Meng smiled proudly. "My father was the master of Source Star, a king among the Immortals. He had more than 500 Immortals under his command."
Su You cautiously asked, "What about now?"
"Now?"
You Meng sighed. "A little over 800,000 eras ago, not long after news of my father's death arrived, one of his enemies destroyed Source Star. Everyone from Source Star who was there at the time must have died."
"I just looked around your information network and discovered that this planet of yours, called Earth, is in the Milky Way Galaxy, just like our Source Star. And it seems to be pretty close, too."
"Pretty close? They should be in the exact same location. Zuoshanke transformed Earth. Even if it shattered into fragments, it would eventually come together again, time and time again."
Su You thought to himself. It was hardly surprising that the girl called You Meng hadn't realized Earth and Source Star were in the same location.
After all, 8.2 billion years was an unimaginably long time. Most of the nearby star systems weren't even that old, and the area had changed immensely. Besides, Earth had no star charts, and its observation technology was extremely primitive, so she hadn't recognized it right away.
Su You pressed her, "So does that mean there are no members of Source Star left now?"
You Meng furrowed her brow. "There are none now, but that doesn't mean there won't be any in the future. My father said he would return in the distant future. Once he does, Source Star can be rebuilt."
The distant future? Doesn't that mean resurrection? But a World Lord couldn't withstand the passage of time!
In Su You's memories from his previous life, the two candidates for the Star Tower before Luo Feng had been a World Lord and an Immortal. The master of Source Star was probably the Immortal candidate.
But 8.2 billion years had already passed. If he could be resurrected, surely he would have returned by now. After all, the master of Source Star had been a King Level expert of the Human Race. There was no reason for it to take this long. Something must have gone wrong.
"So? Have you made up your mind? Are you willing to become my servant now?"
Su You thought for a moment before replying, "Uh, what do you need a servant for? Why not just take me in as a disciple of Source Star?"
You Meng frowned. "The Milky Way Galaxy was indeed within Source Star's territory back then, so that's not out of the question. But your strength is too low. You don't meet the minimum requirements to become a disciple of Source Star."
"Minimum requirements?"
You Meng nodded. "You need to become a Gene Warrior, meaning you must be at least Planetary Level. Your Body Amplitude must also reach twenty times."
"Twenty times?" Su You was startled. The strongest Body Amplitude on Earth belonged to Thunder God, and even his was only seven times.
But when he thought about it, it made sense. In his memories from his previous life, Luo Feng had needed a Mental Power Amplitude of sixteen to become a member of Yunmo Planet at the No. 9 Ancient Civilization Ruin. Source Star was clearly far stronger than Yunmo Planet, so it wasn't surprising that its requirements were higher.
Su You tried to bargain. "Uh, I did bring you up from underground, after all. Can't you lower the requirements a little?"
You Meng looked at Su You. "My father set those requirements. I don't have the authority to change them, but..."
Su You quickly asked, "But what?"
A hint of cunning flashed in You Meng's eyes. She put on a troubled expression and said,
"How about this: become my servant first. That way, you'll still count as one of Source Star's people, and you'll be able to learn some of our secret techniques. Once you're strong enough to meet the requirements to become a disciple of Source Star, you'll automatically become one."
Su You frowned, feeling reluctant. When other people had lucky encounters, they became disciples of the inheritors. Why did he have to start out as a servant?
Seeing his hesitation, You Meng grew anxious. "Su You, don't worry. With me guiding you, you should meet the requirements to become a disciple of Source Star in three to five years at most."
*Hmm? Why does she keep insisting that I become her servant? And she seems even more anxious than I am! What is she up to? Could she be lusting after my body and trying to take it over?
But shouldn't an Intelligent Life have no soul? No, that's not right. She doesn't seem to be a purely Intelligent Life, either.*
All kinds of distracting thoughts raced through Su You's mind. He grew deeply suspicious of the Intelligent Life before him and couldn't help asking,
"Are you really an Intelligent Life? Why haven't you found someone else to bring you up from underground all these years?"
Normally, an Intelligent Life should have been able to monitor the whole planet. Even the Intelligent Life at the No. 9 Ancient Civilization Ruin had been able to monitor humanity's development on Earth. So why hadn't she even known how to speak Chinese at first?
You Meng sighed. "Of course I'm an Intelligent Life, but I'm an incomplete one."
"An incomplete Intelligent Life?" Su You asked, puzzled.
You Meng nodded. "That's right. The ring is made from an extremely rare, high-grade metal. My father happened to obtain a small piece of it. It can convert a soul into data, turning it into an Intelligent Life.
"But it has a major flaw, too. After becoming an Intelligent Life, I was almost completely confined to the ring. At most, I could monitor what was happening within two or three meters of me, and I had no way to contact the outside world.
"It wasn't until you arrived that I could use your Communication Watch to access this planet's information network and create translation programs for the Universal Language and Chinese."
