You hit him right where it hurt!
In the living room of the old house, Qiangu Wuji and Na'er, dressed in brand-new formal outfits, were curiously sizing each other up.
The outfits Leng Yaozhu had prepared weren't the sort worn to a banquet. They looked more like uniforms from some noble academy.
A crisp, plaid jacket with a large red flower at the collar, paired with smart little trousers and leather shoes, made Qiangu Wuji look less gentle and more dashing.
Na'er's outfit was much simpler: a black skirt that just reached past her knees and a pair of open-toed sandals with straps around her feet.
But the simple outfit made the already beautiful Na'er even more captivating, like a night elf shining in the dark.
"Not bad, not bad!"
Leng Yaozhu watched from the side and nodded, looking quite pleased.
Qiangu Wuji turned to her and said helplessly,
"Mom, even if we're going to see Uncle Yun Ming, why do we have to dress up so much?"
"You're just a little kid. Why are you asking so many questions?"
Leng Yaozhu stepped forward, gently pinched his cheek, then beckoned the two of them.
"Come on. I've already booked a restaurant, and your Uncle Yun Ming should be there by now."
"Ugh!"
Qiangu Wuji sighed inwardly and nodded reluctantly.
By now, he had more or less guessed what Leng Yaozhu had meant earlier when she said she'd found a place for Na'er.
She was probably planning to entrust Na'er to Yun Ming.
In the original story, Na'er eventually became a disciple of Yun Ming and his wife, too.
Although the plot had shifted because of the butterfly effect caused by his arrival, the overall direction was still the same.
Qiangu Wuji thought this was for the best. It would give Na'er a chance to gain some experience. If she stayed by his side forever, she'd end up becoming useless.
What he couldn't quite understand was why Leng Yaozhu had gone out of her way to dress him and Na'er up.
Was she showing off her son?
Thinking about it, Yun Ming and Holy Spirit Douluo Ya Li's greatest regret as a couple was that they had never had children.
If someone brought that up, they might really be poking them right where it hurt.
But Leng Yaozhu was a Limit Douluo, after all. Would she really be that petty?
Before long, the three of them left the house.
They had originally planned to invite Gu Yue along, too, but lately, she had been going out early and coming back late for reasons unknown, so they decided not to call her.
After a few minutes on the road, the three finally arrived at the largest restaurant in the center of Aolai City.
The restaurant's owner seemed to have known they were coming and had already led his staff outside to wait. The moment he saw them, he bent at the waist, put on a fawning smile, and bowed.
"Ms. Leng, as you instructed, we've cleared everyone out."
Leng Yaozhu nodded and glanced at the smiling owner.
"Take us to the private room."
"Certainly. Please follow me."
Led by the owner, the three soon reached the largest private room on the top floor.
The moment the door opened, a man and a woman came into view.
They looked like a young couple in their mid-twenties.
The man was handsome, with long, ink-black hair and deep-set eyes. A steady air surrounded him.
The woman was beautiful and graceful, wearing a gentle smile that never left her face. She seemed to have a certain magic about her; simply looking at her made one feel as though they were being healed.
Qiangu Wuji was surprised as he looked at them.
Could these two really be Holy Spirit Douluo Ya Li and Qingtian Douluo Yun Ming?
As if to confirm his guess, the woman spoke softly.
"Yaozhu, is this your son? He really is a fine young man."
After she spoke, Leng Yaozhu nodded, then smiled at Qiangu Wuji.
"Wuji, these two are Ya Li, the vice-master of the Sea God Pavilion, and Yun Ming, its master. Go on, call them Uncle and Auntie."
Just as he'd thought!
Hearing this, Qiangu Wuji felt a slight jolt in his heart.
He hadn't expected this little city of Aolai to have three Limit Douluos gathered there today, including Yun Ming, the strongest person of the current era.
If the restaurant owner knew, he wondered what he would think.
Suppressing his strange thoughts, Qiangu Wuji nodded and politely greeted the two.
After the greetings, the three soon took their seats.
The hotel staff began bringing out the dishes.
As they waited for the food, Yun Ming, who had remained silent until then, was the first to speak.
He looked at Na'er, sitting quietly in the corner, and asked calmly,
"Is this the child you mentioned?"
He was, of course, asking Leng Yaozhu.
Leng Yaozhu nodded.
"Yes. Her name is Na'er. She's two years younger than Wuji, and she hasn't awakened her Martial Soul yet."
Yun Ming nodded, then fell silent.
At that point, Ya Li picked up the conversation.
"Whether she has a Martial Soul or not doesn't matter. No matter how powerful someone becomes, in the end, they're nothing more than a wisp of dust upon the earth."
As she spoke, she stood up and went over to Na'er. Gently rubbing her head, she smiled and said,
"Little one, from today on, you'll live with us."
Na'er was clearly still rather shy around strangers. She didn't answer, but beneath the table, her little hand gently tugged at Qiangu Wuji's arm.
That small gesture, of course, didn't escape Ya Li, a Limit Douluo.
She looked at Qiangu Wuji with interest and smiled.
"She seems to trust you quite a lot. You must be very close, right?"
Qiangu Wuji felt awkward and didn't know how to answer.
If he said he was close to Na'er, wouldn't that make him a grown man with the soul of an adult in a child's body who was into little girls?
So it was best to stay quiet.
Ya Li didn't dwell on the question for long and soon returned to her seat.
Next came some more formal matters, mainly concerning who would take responsibility for Na'er.
As Leng Yaozhu explained it, she had originally planned to keep Na'er with her. But she had spent the past three years in Aolai City, and a mountain of work had piled up at the Spirit Pagoda. Once she returned, she would be so busy that she wouldn't have time to look after Na'er.
That was when she thought of Yun Ming and Ya Li.
Because of certain circumstances, Ya Li couldn't have children, and she had always felt that she owed Yun Ming for it. So when Leng Yaozhu suggested that they take Na'er in, the two of them agreed without a moment's hesitation.
Qiangu Wuji thought it was for the best. With the two of them looking after Na'er, at least she wouldn't need to worry about her safety for the next ten years.
Na'er seemed somewhat unwilling, but after Qiangu Wuji repeatedly promised that he would make time to visit her, she finally agreed.
And with that, Na'er's future was settled.
Then Yun Ming, who had been relatively quiet until now, spoke again.
He raised his eyes to look at Qiangu Wuji.
"Little guy, what's your Soul Power level now?"
