Preparing for a Long Journey

A day later, Wei Suo and Han Weiwei returned safely to their cave residence on Little Night Mountain and began studying three peculiar green crystals in the meditation chamber.

Before Wei Suo and Han Weiwei sat two pots, one planted with a Seven Nights Chrysanthemum and the other with a Rice Paste Berry.

Wei Suo had dug up both plants on his way back from Dragon Severing Cliff. They were worth two or three Low-grade Spirit Stones, but they were not particularly rare medicinal herbs.

The Seven Nights Chrysanthemum cleared internal heat and neutralized toxins, and was especially nourishing for cultivators who practiced water-element techniques. The Rice Paste Berry, meanwhile, was a low shrub that bore white fruit. The juice inside its fruit resembled a lump of rice paste and could somewhat stave off hunger.

After the pale yellow flowers of a Seven Nights Chrysanthemum bloomed, they could last for seven days. On the seventh day, their medicinal potency reached its peak; after seven days, the flowers withered, and their potency dispersed with them. The Rice Paste Berry likewise had a ripening period of around three to four days. Once those days passed, not only would its berries ripen and fall, but the entire plant would wither away. One could only wait for the seeds within the berries to sprout and grow into a new plant.

This Seven Nights Chrysanthemum had just reached its seventh day. It looked as though it would take a little while longer to wither, but the tender skins of the Rice Paste Berries appeared so juicy that water might drip from them at any moment. They were ripe beyond ripeness. Unless something unexpected happened, within less than half an incense stick's time, all five or six berries on the plant would fall.
