In countries around the world, marches, whether for profit or nonprofit, generally had to be registered with the authorities.
Marches on such a massive scale naturally drew some attention from intelligence agencies around the world. But even the election of an American president could bring millions out in protest. Humanity had nearly gone extinct this time, so wasn't it perfectly normal for people to vent their frustration?
In America alone, a few hundred marches a year were nothing unusual! Governments around the world had anticipated this and prepared contingency plans.
Among the applications were protests against governments concealing the truth, protests against officials and the wealthy receiving priority rescue during the crisis, and even protests against the aliens' brutality. But most called for humanity to unite against the aliens.
At first, the countries merely increased police presence as much as possible to prevent unrest. Apart from the unusually large turnout, they noticed nothing out of the ordinary.
The next day, massive demonstrations broke out across America's states and counties as scheduled, on an unprecedented scale!
The central squares of nearly every major city were occupied. Demonstrators held up signs and banners in all colors, shouting slogans as they marched down major streets. Countless others joined along the way, swelling their ranks!
American police departments scrambled to maintain order, while reporters everywhere raced out to film and conduct interviews as if pumped full of adrenaline.
"This is CBS reporting live. At nine this morning, a series of massive marches began in over a hundred cities across the country. Participation has already exceeded two million and is still rising!
"The marches are reportedly scheduled to take place today and tomorrow in cities including San Francisco, Atlanta, Dallas, Detroit, and Washington. They will then continue in New York, Oakland, Minneapolis, and dozens
