The two women listened to the commotion outside, looking at each other in dismay.

Outside, there was a barrage of gunfire, followed by the roar of weapons, and finally, a series of explosions. As the power supply was destroyed, the room plunged into darkness, with only the dim emergency lights providing a faint glow.

However, despite the chaos outside, no one came to check on them, leaving them completely unable to understand what was happening.

"Could it be that the rescue has arrived?" Chu Xiaoxiao asked, feeling a glimmer of hope.

Nothing could be worse than the situation they had just been in, so this at least suggested a turn of events.

Ye Min tilted her head to listen for a while, confirming that it had become completely quiet outside and that even the voices of the mercenaries had vanished. Only then did she say to Chu Xiaoxiao, "It's still not certain. Stay here and don't move; I'll go out and check the situation."

The two women froze, exchanged a glance, and their faces suddenly flushed.

Nie Yun crawled in and asked, looking at their strange expressions.

"N-nothing! By the way, how are you here? And what about those bad guys outside?"

"Oh, my brother and I were nearby grabbing a late-night snack when we happened to notice your ship being attacked. So, I asked my friend for help, and those mercenaries have all been taken care of by my friend!"

A late-night snack? Chu Xiaoxiao was already used to Nie Yun's tall tales and couldn't help but roll her eyes.

"Your friend?"

"Yeah, didn't I tell you? I have a friend, the one who builds aircraft carriers! He has wide connections and many friends, so he brought over a warship. However, once they stepped out of the cabin and saw the smoke-filled, battlefield-like ruins outside, they were stunned to realize that it might actually be true.

The yacht was covered in bullet holes and burning fires; it would have been impossible to cause such damage without a large-scale armed conflict.

Compared to Chu Xiaoxiao, the more professional Ye Min could spot even more issues.

First was the shelling—there were many, but strangely, the power was low. The destructive force was weaker than any modern artillery shell she had ever heard of; it was almost as if they had just thrown hand grenades, yet she had clearly heard the sound of cannons.

He then turned to Chu Xiaoxiao and handed her the box he was holding. "Here, it's a good thing I happened to come back and run into this. I just picked it up off the ground. Don't lose it again this time!"

Chu Xiaoxiao took it blankly, wondering how the box had ended up outside.

Nie Yun thought for a moment, then took off the silver-white bracelet from his wrist and handed it over as well.

Chu Xiaoxiao took it, confused. "What is this?"

"I've noticed you've been unlucky lately, always getting kidnapped. This is an heirloom from my ancestors; it can ward off evil!"

"By the way, didn't you say that whoever could defeat all the bad guys and rescue you from danger would win your hand in marriage? It seems the candidate for the son-in-law of the Chu Group has already been decided, right? This is big news, hee hee!" Ye Min suddenly thought of something and giggled.

When Chu Xiaoxiao heard this, her face instantly flushed with shyness, and she couldn't help but retort, "Sister Ye, you said that too!"

"Fine by me! I wouldn't mind two women serving one husband! But are you willing to share?" Ye Min was thick-skinned; there was no way a simple young girl like Chu Xiaoxiao could tease her.
