"Boom!" When Gustav was jolted awake by a violent crash and fierce shaking, he felt refreshed, all his exhaustion swept away.
"I haven't slept that well in ages." He rubbed his face, which seemed a little numb from sleep, before suddenly realizing something was wrong.
He strode out of his quarters and found crew members running around in panic. Grabbing a soldier, he demanded coldly, "What happened? What was that just now?"
Recognizing his commander, the soldier hurriedly saluted. "Commander, I'm not entirely sure yet, but it looks like we've been rear-ended!"
What? Rear-ended?!
Gustav looked utterly baffled. How could that happen to a Space Battleship? Was the whole damn universe not big enough for them to drive around in?
Ten minutes later, after reaching the bridge, listening to his sweating deputy explain the entire incident, and looking at the horrific traffic accident displayed on the screen, Gustav had no choice but to believe it. His flagship really had been rear-ended!
The stern of Gustav's command ship was a wreck. The three banks of thrusters on the left had taken the brunt of the collision and been reduced to scrap metal. Blue electrical sparks were now flying everywhere.
The Hive behind it was no better off. A combat carrier primarily fought by deploying various shipborne combat units from the rear, so its outer armor was never particularly thick. A huge dent now caved in its bow, and its main cannon was clearly ruined beyond repair.
