Just after the Long-Lived One broke through the first interception, the wormhole finally finished its transit cooldown.
A dark vortex rose again in the void, and silver warships crossed several light-years in an instant, arriving on their expedition!
One ship... two... five...
By the time the wormhole exhausted its energy and closed again, a full eight warships had appeared in the Proxima Centauri System!
Silver gleamed wherever the eye fell. Among this second wave of the Solar System expeditionary force, five were new warships built entirely from Mechanical Insects.
Four were uniformly powerful Houyi-class ships, while the vessel leading them had a rather unusual design.
Its hull was roughly spherical, with a mirror-smooth surface. Round and almost cute, it had no visible external weapons, but five enormous silver Mechanical Arms trailed behind it. Each was about two hundred meters long and moved as nimbly as a supple whip.
At first glance, the ship actually bore some resemblance to Eight Stripes, looking like a giant octopus with five tentacles.
This new warship, transformed and refitted from the original Sea Wolf, was another of Nie Yun's trump cards for this operation!
These five new warships, together with the Houyi-class vessel deployed earlier, contained nearly a million tons of Mechanical Insects in total, almost draining all the mobile Mechanical Insect forces Nie Yun had accumulated during this period.
Apart from those needed for development, construction, and the defense of the Solar System, Nie Yun had essentially committed every Mechanical Insect he had to the campaign in the Proxima Centauri System!
