Before them was a pitch-black rocky asteroid roughly twice the diameter of the moon. The asteroid itself was nothing special, but what made it astonishing was... it was hollow!
Yes, hollow straight through, from one end to the other!
It was as though a terrifyingly huge spear had pierced it, leaving a hole over a thousand kilometers across in its center!
And the Shattered Star City Golden Fang had mentioned wasn't built on the celestial body's surface. Instead, it lined the inner walls of that central hole, forming an enormous cylindrical Space City.
At either end of the hole stood a pale-red, honeycomb-patterned layer of transparent crystalline material. It looked quite sturdy and also sealed Shattered Star City off, creating a self-contained interior.
The artificial city's flickering neon lights shone through the crystalline material at its sides, making all of Shattered Star City resemble a glittering ruby with an eerily alluring beauty.
"This celestial body used to be a military fortress, but it was struck by a devastating weapon during the war. In the end, only this wreckage remained.
"Several hundred years ago, the seven great Pirate Crews joined forces with the top hundred pirate groups of the time to fund the construction of Shattered Star City. Ever since, it's been a meeting place for all the Shattered Star Pirates, with tens of billions of pirates passing through." Golden Fang obsequiously played tour guide, eagerly explaining the city's origins to Nie Yun.
