Built inside the planet, Shattered Star City could not be reached directly. They had to enter through an elevator shaft leading straight down from the surface. The vacuum elevator was extremely fast, however, and the two of them arrived inside Shattered Star City in just over ten minutes.

All around them and across the dome overhead, the outlines of a modern metropolis stretched in tightly packed rows. The curved vista left Nie Yun, who was accustomed to a sky above and flat ground below, feeling disoriented, as though space and time had been turned upside down.

Most were people of the Wulf Empire, though there were also plenty of humanoid species with all sorts of appearances. Some held glowing signs to solicit customers, while others posed and preened to attract attention. The scene was rather chaotic.
