"Uh... what I meant was, it's wonderful that you're all right." Leon smiled with a hint of embarrassment.
"To obtain intelligence on the enemy ahead of time, you actually risked your life by going to the Solar System in person. You've truly done the Twin Stars a great service!"
It wasn't that he genuinely cared whether the man lived or died. Mostly, he was still counting on getting firsthand intelligence about the enemy from him!
"For the safety of our civilization, it was only right!" Nie Yun smiled, playing the role of a "patriotic businessman" to perfection.
Leon hurriedly asked, "Then how did the battle in the Solar System go?"
Naturally, Nie Yun shrugged helplessly.
"Well! As you can see, we did our best."
"I see... even the Ante Empire backing you was no match for them?" Leon probed.
"Uh..." Nie Yun blinked innocently.
A moment later, he understood that Leon had gotten the wrong idea.
The Ante Empire? Now there's a name I haven't heard in ages. I'd almost forgotten that little story myself, yet you still remember...
What a beautiful misunderstanding.
It was hardly surprising that Leon would think that. The Solar System was remote, and on the Twin Stars' star maps, its only neighbor besides themselves was the entirely fictitious Ante Empire.
But this wormhole was closely monitored by the Twin Stars. There was no way a large reinforcement fleet could have passed through without being detected.
So the Solar System's reinforcements... could only have come from the "Ante Empire" on the other side.
Naturally, Nie Yun wasn't about to clear up that misunderstanding.
He neither confirmed nor denied it.
"I wouldn't say we were no match for them. At most, we were evenly matched. We simply had too few troops to keep them from escaping." Nie
