Background

Mikoto was raised under the strict expectations placed on an Uchiha child. Her parents required her to master the Fireball Jutsu, and her father, Uchiha Chisaku, later imposed additional training in swordsmanship after she lost to Hyuga Shuji. Chisaku set defeating Shuji within a year as her goal. 1 23

She first met Shuji while both of their parents were away on missions. Though she initially intended to rest from training, Mikoto asked to spar with him because she wanted to test herself against a Hyuga. Shuji defeated her during their first exchange, but she asked to meet him again. 1 2

After Shuji did not return to their meeting place for two months, Mikoto concluded that he disliked her. Her frustration led her to confront him at the Ninja Academy, where she learned that he had been hospitalized after a Genin injured him. The embarrassment and emotional release caused her Sharingan to evolve from one tomoe to two. 8 16

Appearance

At her first appearance, Mikoto is a young girl with fair skin, delicate features, and shoulder-length black hair. She wears an Uchiha black windbreaker bearing the clan crest, a white undershirt, black shorts, and black over-the-knee socks. 1

Personality

Mikoto is competitive, emotionally intense, and deeply driven to improve. Although she initially takes an opportunity to rest from her training, the chance to spar with a Hyuga motivates her more strongly than idleness. Her defeats do not discourage her; instead, she accepts harsher training and repeatedly seeks stronger opponents. 2 23 30

She is also highly sensitive to perceived rejection. Shuji's absence from their meeting place made her question whether she was unpleasant, and the emotions surrounding that misunderstanding accelerated her Sharingan's growth. 8 16

As she matures, Mikoto becomes increasingly assertive toward both her clan and Konoha's political structure.
