Overview

Beast Tamers are humans able to form contracts with Pet Beasts and command them in battle. Though everyone can contract beasts, only those who meet formal requirements may become Beast Tamers. Beasts and Beast Tamers are central to civilization in the Beast Taming Era, influencing clothing, food, housing, transportation, secret-realm exploration, research, and competitive entertainment 1.

To qualify, a person must possess knowledge of feeding and raising beasts, sufficient financial resources, and no history of mental illness. People who do not qualify may still adopt docile pet-type beasts, but cannot pursue Beast Taming as a profession 1.

Contracts

A Beast Tamer–Pet Beast contract fuses part of both parties' spirits, creating a close mental connection. The contract cannot be canceled, even by death 36 51.

• A contracted Beast Tamer can observe a Pet Beast's detailed status more accurately than laboratory instruments 6.
• If either party dies, the survivor suffers permanent mental trauma and cannot use the vacated contract slot for another partner 51.
• The contract naturally deepens the bond between Tamer and Pet Beast; it is also a key factor in certain intimacy-based evolutions 36 65.
• Contract slots are limited and valuable. Most Professional Beast Tamers have eight or nine slots, Heavenly King Beast Tamers have fewer than fifteen, Champions have around twenty, and the known maximum is thirty 69.
• Powerful Pet Beasts, especially Mythical ones, are often unwilling to contract because the irreversible bond creates a weakness for them 51.

Duties and Activities

Pet Beast Cultivation

Beast Tamers feed, train, heal, and shape the growth of their Pet Beasts. Proper cultivation requires nutritional resources, training methods, and injury treatment; inadequate nutrition or unscientific training can halt growth or prevent future evolution 122.

A Pet Beast's personality can also be changed through companionship and specialized training. Top Beast Tamers can guide unsuitable or rebellious personalities toward traits such as Diligent, Bold, or Brave 29.

Battle

Unlike performance-style battles, Beast Taming battles place the Beast Tamer directly at risk. A Tamer's defeat ends the match, and both official contests and wild secret-realm encounters can result in severe injury or death 1.

• Low-level battles — Tamers can issue detailed, continuous commands because combat is relatively slow 84.
• Advanced battles — Pet Beasts fight largely on their own training and experience; the Tamer monitors the field through spiritual power and acts more like a coach, giving broad directives or critical reminders 84.
• Competitive battles — Tamers must dodge attacks, process enemy commands, identify openings, and decide when to switch Pet Beasts under pressure 145.
• Gorgeousness Battles — A Grand Festival format in which direct attacks are prohibited; competitors interfere through moves and coordination instead, reducing the advantage of overwhelmingly powerful racial talents and raw combat statistics 153.

Secret-Realm Exploration

Secret Realms are sources of new Pet Beasts, items, resources, and alien ruins. Their exploration and control form a major foundation of the Beast Taming World, while competition over their resources can be dangerous 22.

Beast Tamers explore these realms to acquire resources and discoveries unavailable through ordinary research channels. Researchers may apply for access to state-controlled realms, but direct explorers hold a major advantage in obtaining new materials and opportunities 22.

Equipment

Beast Tamers use magical equipment to survive alongside powerful Pet Beasts.

• Protective clothing — Can improve physical ability and resist attacks; such equipment is necessary because high-rank Pet Beast battles can kill an unenhanced human with residual force alone 25.
• Beast Taming Suit — A Qilin-fur suit can withstand attacks below mid-Commander rank, provide limited resistance to stronger attacks, enhance physical ability and speed, and reduce Pet Beast hostility through a replicated Affinity effect 32.
• Evolution items — Magical items that may serve as conditions for Pet Beast evolution 25.
• Combat items — Items can be used strategically during battle, such as the Life Bean used to restore the Rainbow Dragon Cub before it unleashed Outrage 40.

Relationship with Pet Beast Researchers

Beast Tamers and Pet Beast Researchers occupy distinct but overlapping roles. Beast Tamers focus on contracts, cultivation, battle, and exploration, while researchers investigate Pet Beast species, moves, evolution, items, and underlying theories 1 67.

Researchers can still contract Pet Beasts and may cultivate exceptionally powerful partners, but are not necessarily regarded as high-level Beast Tamers if their own combat ability does not match their Pet Beasts' realm 125. Beast Taming Doctors hold especially high social status; even Legendary Beast Tamers address them respectfully 1.
