Nara Dan led Konoha’s forces against Sunagakure, survived Shukaku’s attacks, and defeated Chiyo’s giant puppet before forcing the Sand Ninja to accept his authority. As Konoha recalled him and other fronts faltered, Ōnoki and Kitsuchi revealed they had come to eliminate Dan.

• The Third Hokage appointed Nara Dan and Tsunade to lead the new Taijutsu Research and Development Department, then sent them to the Land of Wind front as war began.
• Nara Dan’s army faced Bunpuku and Shukaku, and Dan deflected the One-Tail’s first Tailed Beast Bomb before fighting Shukaku across the battlefield.
• Shukaku’s point-blank Tailed Beast Bomb badly injured Nara Dan, but Bunpuku emerged and died after asking Dan to stop the fighting.
• Nara Dan developed Gang Qi and advanced his Taijutsu Expert Entry, then faced Chiyo and defeated the Feathered Serpent God puppet and its puppeteers.
• Nara Dan showed Chiyo the Third Kazekage’s Human Puppet, gained her submission, and ordered his forces to help the Sand Ninja and prepare a surrender treaty.
• The Third Hokage recalled Nara Dan to Konoha while the Nara Clan prepared for possible danger, Minato fought the Cloud Ninja, and Uchiha Fugaku faced the Seven Mist Swordsmen.
• At the battlefield, Nara Dan confronted his hidden observers, and Ōnoki revealed that he had come with Kitsuchi to eliminate Dan before he could become a second Hashirama Senju.

Nara Dan crushed Iwagakure and Kirigakure’s forces, gained Samehada, and took Might Duy and Might Guy as students. After freeing Rin from Madara Uchiha’s control, Dan confronted Madara in his underground hideout, where their battle continued.

• Ōnoki led ten thousand Iwagakure Ninja against Nara Dan, who destroyed their army’s defenses and wiped out more than five thousand before allowing the survivors to retreat.
• Nara Dan refused Konoha High Command’s recall, promised Uchiha Mikoto he would protect the Uchiha, and decided to seek resources from another world.
• Kurenai Yuhi used Dan’s contingency to help Kakashi defeat the Mist Jonin who had captured Obito and Rin, but White Zetsu escaped with them to Uchiha Madara.
• Might Duy opened the Eight Inner Gates and drove off the Seven Ninja Swordsmen, but Nara Dan restrained him, then pursued and killed Suikazan Fuguki, claiming Samehada and the other swords.
• Nara Dan defeated the Mist forces, and Uchiha Fugaku pledged the Uchiha Clan to him, and Dan also accepted Might Duy and Might Guy as students after warning Duy about the cost of his training.
• Nara Dan confronted Rin Nohara in her Three-Tails transformation, entered her mental world, and destroyed Madara Uchiha’s remaining presence before confronting Madara in his hideout.
• Madara Uchiha restored his youth and power, but Nara Dan cut down his trees and destroyed his Wood Dragons before Madara launched Uchiha Flame Formation at him.

Nara Dan defeated Madara Uchiha, intervened in the conflict that killed Yahiko, and returned to Konoha as its war hero. After Danzo’s failed assassination and death, the Third named Dan his successor, and Dan carried the fight to Kumogakure and the Third Raikage.

• Nara Dan defeated Madara Uchiha with Sage-enhanced Gang Qi, then killed Black Zetsu’s body and sent Obito Uchiha back toward Konoha.
• Nara Dan stopped Nagato’s attack on Hanzo, killed Hanzo, and brought Nagato and Konan to Konoha after taking Nagato’s Rinnegan.
• Nara Dan returned to Konoha with Konan and Nagato, where the shinobi welcomed him and he discussed the Fourth Hokage position and the Nara clan’s new Shadow Legion technique.
• Danzo arranged an assassination using Cloud Ninja and Root, but Nara Dan survived the attack while Orochimaru turned against Danzo and the Third clashed with Fugaku’s Uchiha forces.
• Nara Dan fought Minato and Jiraiya when they tried to intervene, while Orochimaru killed Danzo and the Third announced Nara Dan as the Fourth Hokage candidate.
• Nara Dan examined Hashirama Senju’s preserved corpse, let Samehada absorb its Chakra, and considered Chakra a backup to his Gang Qi.
• Nara Dan destroyed most of Kumogakure with Super Shinra Tensei and fought the Third Raikage, who realized he was outmatched as their final blows struck.

Nara Dan became Fourth Hokage, reformed Konoha, and left the Ninja World to pursue greater power. In the Hunter World, he befriended Kurapika and confronted the Phantom Troupe after they attacked the Kurta Clan, ending the stretch in pursuit of the surviving Troupe members.

• Nara Dan forced Kumogakure to surrender, and the Third Raikage named A the Fourth Raikage before retiring.
• The Third Hokage handed the Hokage hat to Nara Dan, who announced plans for a new Konoha and began reforms to its government, academy, economy, and research departments.
• Nara Dan investigated Hashirama Senju’s cells and the origins of the Rinnegan, then prepared to leave Konoha to train and extend his strength and lifespan.
• At Rōran, Nara Dan encountered Gaia’s consciousness within the Dragon Vein and escaped its attack by using Otherworld Visitor to leave the Ninja World.
• Kurapika and Pairo found the injured Nara Dan, who later offered to heal Pairo in exchange for food and books and began studying the Hunter World.
• Nara Dan awakened Kurapika’s Nen temporarily but found he could not use Nen abilities through Kurapika’s body, while the Phantom Troupe located the Kurta Clan and launched an assault.
• The Phantom Troupe slaughtered Kurta Clan members, and Nara Dan arrived with Kurapika, defeated Feitan and Franklin, and used Planetary Devastation to absorb Feitan’s Rising Sun.
• Feitan died after crushing his own heart, Franklin was vaporized, and Nara Dan set off after the fleeing Phantom Troupe.
